Just announced by Jennifer Griffith in a live interview, WH has asked Pentagon for a formal assessment of a withdrawal from Afghanistan, that the Afghan War is no longer in our nations interest, blamed the Afghan elections.
Since the recent elections in Afghanistan apparently had so much fraud Obama has a pretext to leave. I bet that is what happens.

Now wait just a damn minute. On August 18, at the annual Veterans of Foreign Wars convention in Phoenix, Obama renewed his prior commitment to dismantling Al Qaeda in Afghanistan — a struggle he said was “fundamental to the defense of our people.” He also said: “This is not a war of choice. This is a war of necessity,” cautioning that the insurgency would not be defeated overnight. “Those who attacked America on 9/11 are plotting to do so again. If left unchecked, the Taliban insurgency will mean an even larger safe haven from which Al Qaeda would plot to kill more Americans.” Yet the war in Afghanistan is under-resourced, under-funded and until recently has been largely ignored in favor of the war in Iraq. Aside from the VFW speech, the Obama administration has spent very little time or effort trying to raise commitment or support for its Afghanistan policy. Indeed, it’s spent more time commenting on ACORN. There are double the number of troops in Iraq than in Afghanistan right now. Adding to the frustration, in the last two weeks, top administration officials have suggested that more American troops will be sent to Afghanistan, but then turned around and called that suggestion “premature.” Earlier this month, Adm. Michael Mullen, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said that “time is not on our side”; last Thursday, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates urged the public “to take a deep breath.”
Now this? I can’t believe it.

I watched a doco on the Afghan elections. One Afghani interviewed stated...’we should be given credit for having an election, what does it matter if the results are controversial...’
That’s democracy, muslim style. In one region, only 300 were brave enough to vote.

I say bring the boys home since without more troops they will all perish for nothing anyway. The aftermath will be the same as Vietnam and maybe when history repeats itself yet again, the conservatives will finally be able to make some headway with the complacent, titty dependent, MTV generation.
