Brezinski Calls for Obama to Shoot Down Israeli Jets; "A Liberty in Reverse"
Weekly Standard ^ | 9/19/09

Posted on 09/20/2009 7:00:12 AM PDT by NativeNewYorker

DB: How aggressive can Obama be in insisting to the Israelis that a military strike might be in America’s worst interest?

Brzezinski: We are not exactly impotent little babies. They have to fly over our airspace in Iraq. Are we just going to sit there and watch?

DB: What if they fly over anyway?

Brzezinski: Well, we have to be serious about denying them that right. That means a denial where you aren’t just saying it. If they fly over, you go up and confront them. They have the choice of turning back or not. No one wishes for this but it could be a Liberty in reverse.

That is the first thing that came into my mind. Woe to ANY nation, including America who curses/opposes Israel. This administration is out of it’s mind if they think that God is going to sit by and let America shoot down Israeli jets without serious long-lasting consequences.

Aside from the obvious anti-Israel (and as far as I’m concerned, plain anti-Jewish ethos in Brez’s comments); and since Brez is supposed to be a far-sighted policy wonk; let’s consider what might happen NEXT if his advice were followed:

Israel’s airforce is damaged;

Israel’s enemies, seeing the above, and the US animosity towards Israel, decide now is the best time to attack;

Hezbollah and Hamas begin war, aided, and later joined by, Syria, Iran, and maybe even Egypt (if Israel appears to be losing)

So the result of the US turning on Israel is not peace, but almost guaranteed war.

Israel will then need US help and replacements for its losses (including the aircraft lost to the US)

Thus a second result is the US having to replace the air losses, plus much more, in order to avoid an Israeli defeat (which the US public would not accept).

Does Brez ever THINK ahead? For a presidential advisor, isn’t thinking ahead about the consequences of one’s actions a part of one’s job description?

I don’t think even The Dear Leader would want to lose the Jewish vote. Right now a lot of Jews are in denial about Onada and his Marxist roots. Shooting down Israeli planes would make it clear that Israel and Jews in general are expendible.

The Jews have ICBMs. They don’t need to use jets.

June 26th, 2002 summary: Israel has a large rocket to put satellites into space, the Shavit. If used as a missile to deliver a nuclear warhead, various experts estimate it would have a range of 4000 to 7200 kilometers, depending on the weight of the warhead.

The Jericho 3 is currently in development. It is believed to have a three-stage solid propellant and a payload of 1,000 to 1,300 kg. It is possible for the missile to be equipped with a single 750 kg nuclear warhead or two or three low yield MIRV warheads. It has an estimated launch weight of 29,000 kg and a length of 15.5 m with a width of 1.56 m. It likely is similar to an upgraded Shavit space launch vehicle. It will probably have longer first and second-stage motors. It is estimated that it will have a range of 4,800 to 6,500 km (2,982 to 4,038 miles). It is believed that the Jericho 3 is inertial guided with a radar guided warhead and silo-based with mobile vehicle and railcar capabilities

The Jericho 3 will give Israel nuclear strike capabilities within the entire Middle East. In the advent of another Israeli-Arab war, the Jericho 3 will provide a deterrent against a possible nuclear attack. It will also provide Israel a last option to prevent being overrun and will likely secure U.S. military aid, as the U.S. government will have a strong desire to advert a nuclear war in the region. The range of the Jericho 3 also provides an extremely high impact speed for nearby targets, enabling it to avoid any Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) defenses that may develop in the immediate region.

It is estimated that the Jericho 3 will be in service in 2008.(1)
AND THEY MAY BE IN USE IN 2009

IMO that sub was dropping spare supplies on the ocean bottom that they can use the next time they venture out. The number of cruise missiles they have room aboard for is limited.

i dont understand this thread

we are america, not israel

we are in control of iraq right now, that is why we have 400,000 troops, contractors and supports over there. we invaded, we conquered, we control.

if anyone violates, we are not pansies, they turn around or we shoot down

what is happening to america were even conservatives are scared little girls when they see a star of david, i am not even anti-semitic i am a christ (who was a jew!) loving conservatic christian american and it is about time we threw the socalist-israeli 5th column off this american board! israel is an ally, not our boss, and if we say no and they fly into our airspace, they arent allies anymore!

Ah ok. Well, I was a little foggy on just why the Israelis weren’t doing anything about their terrorist problem over there (playing the waiting game)...now I know why.

The question is, WHY would Obama order US forces to kill Israelis on their way to destroy Iranian nuclear weapon factories?

Excellent! That would leave Israel with only the nuclear MRBM option!!

Yep. Or at least a damn good excuse for it.

Why wouldn’t he?

He’s anti-Semitic and for the enemies of America.

Is there something in his observed behavior that indicates otherwise?

Right. I doubt even Obama is dumb enough to listen to Brzezinski on this. Especially not when it must be dawning on Obama that he’s running a real risk of being the next Carter.
