Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee is the preferred 2012 GOP presidential nominee among Christian conservatives, according to the results of a straw poll announced Saturday at an annual gathering of the religion (sic) right in Washington.
Prominent Republican leaders, including House Minority Leader John Boehner, took to the stage at the Value Voters Summit to blast President Obama's spending policies and announce the top 2012 presidential pick among conservative voters.
The summit's poll, which featured 9 presidential prospects, found that 28 percent of Christian conservatives said Huckabee would revive the Republican party and traditional conservative principles while 12.4 percent preferred former Massachustts governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney. Other strong contenders included Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, who won over 12.23 percent of conservative voters. Former Alaska governor and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and Indiana Rep. Mike Pence came out in in a virtual tie at 12.06 percent and 11.89 percent, respectively.

Democrats will salivate at the chance to face him. The MSM will immediately paint him as an out of touch, christian zealot.
To post 5 - Not to worry. Mrs Palin’s candidacy (when announced) will make the GOP primaries a mere formality. No one in the GOP will get near her.
Huckabee is one of them, and he’s a visible figure on the cble news station many of these values voters watch. These values voters, many of them moderate “choice” voting Baptists, Catholics and Evangelicals, see Romney as a member of a religious cult, and their perception of Sarah Palin is largely shaped by the media. They see her as a drag on the Republican party.
No way the nominee will be the Huckster.
No WAY Jose!
I rather go parasalin with Sarah Palin!!
PALIN 2012!!
Other than Palin, what do we have except RINOs?
Sarah came in 5th?
Our problem isn’t the demonrats it’s the idiotic republicans.
Exactly
Senator Jim DeMint to name one, but I’m for Sarah should she choose to run.
Straw polls are a joke. It really is just seeing who can bus in the most of their supporters. Which is more of an exercise in who know how to get people to the poll instead of who the people really want to win.
Exactly right, and Huckabee's record as governor proved that. Like Fred said one or twice, Huck is a pro-life liberal.
I refuse to vote for the Huckster or what ever they call him he is part of the reason we had the Corpse cast upon us.
I can’t watch his show on Fox.
It’s like a talent(less) show for political wannabees.
I wish Palin had been there.
Considering the results, it wasn't much of a conservative forum.
Her son Track is returning from Iraq this weekend. She has priorities.
Not worried in the least. For one thing Huck was there and gave a rousing speech. Palin doesn’t need the conservative cred imho, she can skip this stuff. If Palin runs just watch those rallies and watch how her presence controls the news cycle every single day. Huckabee will be a fine decoy.
OK. The difference between Romney and Pawlenty was 0.17
The difference between Pawlenty and Palin was 0.17
The difference between Palin and Pence was 0.17
But for some reason, the reporter thinks Palin and Pence were "virtually tied", while the others were not.
If 0.17 is a "virtual tie", then really all 4 of these candidates were in a "virtual tie".
ahh the NYC effete elites picking YOUR new John McCain.
