KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Police say a man shot an intruder who was armed with a baseball bat Tuesday night.
Mark Farrell, 24, of Beatty, entered Jim Westman's house armed with a wooden baseball bat, said Klamath Falls Sheriff Timothy Evinger in a news release.
Farrell attempted to assault Westman with the bat and Westman fired one round from a .22-caliber rifle, which hit Farrell in the right forearm. Farrell continued to assault Westman after he was shot, Evinger said.
Roxann Klobucar, Westman's mother, was able to wrestle the bat from Farrell. Klobucar hit Farrell several times in the head until he was subdued, Evinger said. Click here to find out more!
Prior to entering the house, Farrell damaged Westman's vehicle with the bat, Evinger said.
Evinger said the motive appears related to a theft from Farrell about a month ago.
Farrell was transported to a nearby hospital. He is expected to face charges of burglary, criminal mischief and reckless endangerment.
Detectives are continuing to investigate.
Never bring a bat to a gunfight................
A .22 would barely protect your home against a squirrel.
Roxann Klobucar, Westman's mother, was able to wrestle the bat from Farrell... hit Farrell several times in the head until he was subdued,..
Note to MLB Commissioner Bud Selig
Dear bonehead Bud.:-)See. Good old fashioned Ash bats don't break after a few whacks.
Outlaw Maple bats next season. And Ash bats are also cheaper.regards,
Me
ps: nothing beats a good piece of Ash
Don’t bring a 22 to a bat fight.
A theft and he didn’t call the po po? What exactly was stolen? Probably weed or meth. Just saying.
Israelis hit squads used .22 Berettas. Two men, 14 .22’s to the chest.
.22’s kill more people than any other caliber.
I remember a subway clerk defended himself with a North American Arms .22 revolver. About the size of a Bic Lighter. One shot to the head, killed the robber.
.22’s are affordable and small and with minimal training and with even more mental training can be quite deadly.
I have a .22 semi-auto I would resort to during a break in... after the .45 clips have been emptied.
That is one AMAZING bat.
Where can I get one?
“Never bring a bat to a gunfight................”
..., or a .22 to a bat fight!
need more coffee...here I thought he (the homeowner/renter/whatever) had a bat modified to shoot.
Then, I thought, no, that can’t be right...but PETA is gonna be all over this.
“after the .45 clips have been emptied.”
My thought exactly. Have 4 clips of 230 gr JHP .45 first then restort to the .22 or maybe from the looks of this case .45 first then the bat!
That's interesting; I did not know revolvers came in "fun size".
When going to a gunfight, always bring enough gun and more ammo than you think you'll need.
I have 230gr Hydra-Shok rounds in my clips — hopefully one shot will do the trick! ;-)
She should have went for his vital organs.
Center mass.
Amen. The 1911 Colt - after a century: still the perfect handgun.
I have a 22 for outdoor varmints and 2 25’s for indoor varmints and a 38 just in case the little guns don't do the trick.
