Court sets execution date for Washington, DC sniper mastermind
A Virginia judge has ruled that the mastermind behind the 2002 sniper attacks in Washington, DC that left 10 people dead will be executed on November 10. John Allen Muhammad is expected to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and ask Governor Timothy M. Kaine for clemency.
Muhammad was sentenced to death for the slaying of Dean Meyers, one of 10 people shot to death during a 2002 rampage that terrorized the Washington, D.C., area.
uhammad and teenage accomplice Lee Boyd Malvo killed six people in Alabama and Louisiana before moving on to Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, where Meyers was shot at a Manassas gas station. Six others were wounded. Malvo, who was born in Jamaica, is serving life in prison for the shooting spree. Last month a federal appeals court rejected Muhammad's argument that prosecutors withheld critical evidence and that Muhammad never should have been allowed to act as his own attorney for a portion of his trial because he was too mentally impaired.

I wish for once that they would decide in some causes having the death penalty carried out immediately is justified.
Take him out to the back of the court house and have the sheriff execute the sentence.

Virginia has a reputation for enforcing capital punishment.
Muhammad was transferred to Virginia PRECISELY AND ONLY because it was known that Maryland would not invoke or carry out the death penalty. And that Virginia does, has, and will.
There are a whole lot of victims, a whole lot of law enforcement, and a whole lot of DC Metro folks like me who want to see this scumball disappear.
Yes, there’s a slim chance of something happening, but this is not New York or California.

I have no doubt that Muhammad will be put down, eventually. I just don't believe it's realistic to presume he'll be executed on November 10th of this year.
The last cop-killer to get the needle in Virginia, Edward Nathaniel Bell, spent just over 8 years on death row (entered VA Death Row on May 30, 2001, executed on Feb 19 IIRC, 2009). I suspect it will be a similar amount of time for Muhammad.
