Freepers! Please post comments and your great pictures here. Also links to videos would be appreciated!
It sure was great to be a part of this historic event! We American patriots were certainly NOTICED!
Counting folks on all four corners, I'd say there were a few more than that! ;o)
It was quite exciting waving flags and signs at the passersby, and seeing their reactions with waving and horn-blowing. SirKit and I left about 9:15, and were a block or two down Dahlia St. when we heard a roar from the crowd. I'm guessing it was when the soldiers were returning in the bus from their Friday evening out. It sounded like the crowd at a football game after their team scores a touchdown! We just laughed out loud in delight, when we heard it!
I think he liked us. ;o)
It was also a pleasure to meet Jim Robinson, Kristinn, Seekthetruth, Brytani and her husband (can't remember his FR name right now, either) and GRRRR, who was working the sign in table, just before we did our stint on Friday afternoon. And we met many Freepers on the shuttle buses back and forth, including Basil, and several in the restaurant, including JustAmy, and the delightful little PrissyMissy!
There was also a delightful young couple from Cincinnati, who, instead of going to Gulf Shores for their 10th Anniversary trip, decided to come to the FR Convention, even though they're not even Freepers!!
It was just so much fun to be able to talk with like-minded folks!!
We are now ready to elect lots of real constitutional conservatives to Congress in November, 2010! The members of Congress heard from us on 9/12, but they will certainly hear from us again on November 2, 2010!
And we Florida Freepers will be doing everything we can to make sure Col. Allen West goes to Congress from Florida District 22! :)
What a fabulous weekend!! Major kudos to Tami, Jean, Leni, and everyone else who organized the convention!! Of course, a big “thank you” to Jim Robinson...a real honor to meet the man who makes this site possible for all of us!
Being among such great patriots last weekend was just the shot in the arm we all needed to make us realize we are NOT ALONE! Regardless of what the final headcount was in DC on the 12th, it was a phenomenal turn-out of Americans who are fed up with what the Thug-In-Chief is doing to our country...and I felt very blessed to be able to take part in that history-making event...and honored to sing at the Candlelight Vigil and the Convention!
My son had a fabulous time...and was not the least bit nervous up there on the stage!!
I didn’t get any pics or videos of us performing...if anyone did, I would LOVE to get copies!
Thanks again to all who made this one weekend we will not soon forget!!
All our best...
Lisa & Joshua

Those who missed it would have loved to have been there, believe me.At breakfast before the event on the mall we had a speech by a FReeper whose name escapes me, but who is young and VERY articulate. Needs to be in politics, does NOT need a teleprompter.
After the march my wife and I tramped around and saw the Vietnam Memorial and the WWII memorial. Then back to the hotel for a little rest and then to the banquet. Good food, of course - and lots of people who were good company. And all the while a giant screen showed scenes from the mall that day.
After the banquet there was a program which included a performance by Lloyd Marcus. Good stuff. There was a video greeting from Jackie Mason.
The first speech was by Lt. Col. West (US Army, retired), who was a real fire-breather. Powerful. He ran for Congress last year, and is running again this year.
The second speaker was Joyce Kaufman, a Florida (Miami?) talk show host. Latina, but pro English-only. Excellent speech.
Last was Andrew Wilkow, and he was very good - talk radio host on Satellite. I chatted with him, and with Col. West, after the banquet. But I was able to make a point with Wilkow that I would love to hear talk show hosts make; it was right in line with what he said in the speech but from a different perspective. He said, and illustrated the fact that, "liberals" push emotion and try to evade facts and logic. I pointed out that the etymology of the word "philosopher" related exactly to that tendency. In ancient Greece the Sophists were people who claimed to be wise (as the root "soph" indicates in Greek), but they became notorious for their slippery, self-serving arguments. The proper response is not to say, "No, you're not wise, I am," but to take the humble position that "I don't claim to be wise, but I love wisdom ("philo" meaning "brotherly love" in Greek). So I want to hear only about facts and logic."
The "conservative talk show host" is actually a philosopher in the etymological sense of the term. He has to be, because he is taking on Big Journalism, and he can't get away with self-serving arguments but must stick to the facts and logic in order to hold his own. OTOH Big Journalism, having the big reputation and the big microphone, is able to get away with sophistry. And does so constantly.
Still looking for any photos of speakers, singers, presenters at the podium. (I'm a pest, ain't I? ;)
Thanks, everyone!
