Up to two million people marched to the U.S. Capitol today, carrying signs with slogans such as "Obamacare makes me sick" as they protested the president's health care plan and what they say is out-of-control spending.
The line of protesters spread across Pennsylvania Avenue for blocks, all the way to the capitol, according to the Washington Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

FreedomWorks Foundation, a conservative organization led by former House of Representatives Majority Leader Dick Armey, organized several groups from across the country for what they billed as a "March on Washington."
Organizers say they built on momentum from the April "tea party" demonstrations held nationwide to protest tax policies, along with growing resentment over the economic stimulus packages and bank bailouts.

Many protesters said they paid their own way to the event - an ethic they believe should be applied to the government.

Today's protests imitated the original Boston Tea Party of 1773, when colonists threw three shiploads of taxed tea into Boston Harbour in protest against the British government under the slogan 'No taxation without representation'.
The group first began rising to prominence in April, when the governor of Texas threatened to secede from the union in protest against government spending. Waves of tea party protests have crossed America since.
Today's rally, the largest grouping of fiscal conservatives to march on Washington, comes on the heels of heated town halls held during the congressional August recess when some Democratic lawmakers were confronted, disrupted and shouted down by angry protestors who oppose President Obama's plan to overhaul the health care system.

SB, I was there.
I have been at rallies in DC when there where 300,000.
This crowd was more than double that.
I estimated 700,000.
The estimates of one to two million are too much, in my opinion. There was another event on the mall about seven blocks west of us. One to two million would have taken over the entire Mall.
It was a massive sea of humanity—all of the nicest people you would ever want to meet.
I just now heard there were people overflowing onto the Capitol sides. This would push the estimates higher.
Beck (and I) thought it was, too, but said he would go with the “official” number.
And remember the weather was pretty bad on the east coast for the last 2 days ---heavy rains and high winds. Imagine what that number would have been had the weather been nice and sunny!
I’ve never seen the Metro so crowded.
It was beyond rush hour crowded. The Metro was running so slowly in the afternoon as additional trains were trying to keep up with the traffic — stopped on tracks in between the station slow!
The radical left news agencies [ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, PBS etc.] reports around 500,000
+++++++++++++++
The 500,000 figure would actually be good. Do you have links from the lefties on that?
ABC News is still saying 60,000 and Fox and WaPo are saying ‘tens of thousands’. I say that are discounting this about 80 to 90%.
We’re used to it from the Minsistry of Propaganda, but not from Fox.
I was there too and agree with your estimate. I figured a minimum of around 300k that I could see, but I could not see the entire crowd and discovered other parts of it at other times, meaning it could have been bigger. I think 100k is way low and 1m is way high. Somewhere in the 300k-500k range feels right.
Ever notice how most liberal women are DOGS?
Yes, that was almost exactly my experience. I was estimating 300k then saw the overflow on the sides that may have pushed the number up higher.

Exit, would you estimate 700,000 for both rallies, or for the main rally?
The only thing wrong with partying like 1773 is, at that Tea Party, the object upon which the tax had been placed was destroyed so that none could pay it.
Today the tax is on incomes and Obama and the Democrats (APUTA) are already destroying that.

If you lookat the sat photo’s from O imaculation you will notice huge gaps in the mall where NO ONE is located, he didn’t have a million.
I remember the Promise Keeper’s Rally - That was Huge (HUGH in Freeper lingo).
I walked around a lot and saw many people some distance from the event. I left about 2:15 and Union Station was crowded with Tea Party folks.
I think those at the end of the parade just ran into no place to go and just dispersed.
It sounds like you are wishing the numbers were low.
There were over 100,000 people just gathered around the cement pond (reflecting pool to those in the north). I don't know the final tally, but I'm certain that there were at least 700K there. At least!
Actually when I first started watching the coverage on Fox this morning they first said tens of thousands and about 10 min. later updated it to hundreds of thousands.
Interesting the way the drivebys covered all this. No mention whatsoever of any numbers that I heard and I watched two of them.
What they did was give about 2-3 minutes on our huge demonstration and then give equal time to some BS meeting that el bozo was attending as if they were giving each one equal time.
Problem is they were anything but equal and they know it! Slick sobs.
Many of us wanted to be there,at least we are here.
