Huge crowd, yes. But not two million. Even DeMint has now changed his first boast on this. Malkin is wrong because the police do not give estimates.
We were there and have seen a lot of crowds on the mall for inaugurations, July 4th festivities, marches, etc. Two million would not fit on the Mall in its two mile stretch.
Best estimate from experience? - 200,000 plus. For those familiar with the Capital and the Mall, the crowd filled the Capital west lawn, the area around the Grant reflecting pool, and west to Fourth street. It started encroaching on another groups permit west of the Grant statue. It could be another 100,000 to 200,000 because they were forced to spread out along the sides of the rally because of the permit limits and the loudspeakers range.
It was a very large crowd, far beyond expectations, but too many groups inflate the numbers (mostly libs). It was NOT tens of thousands as the CNN NBC crowd are trying to say, but more like hundreds of thousands. BTW, the DC or Park Police do NOT make estimates, so anyone saying so is wrong.
Not bad for a rally organized by amateurs with no coordinating megalith like unions or the NAACP. Just real people. Almost ALL of the thousands of signs were handmade, not the fancy pre-printed ones handed out by liberal groups like MoveOn and SEIU.
I posted this on earlier threads. Now reports coming out are backing up my estimate. 200,000 (up to 400,000 because many were off to the side in the nether reaches of the Capitol lawn) is a HUGE number - four full Yankee Stadiums. Let’s not get carried away with the 2 million claim and give the left an opportunity to refute everything else.
And it was true grass roots. Almost ALL the signs were handmade, not the product of SEIU and DNC printing presses that characterize liberal rallies.
I YELL FOR A DAMN GOOD REASON.
Slow wits and gas bags... Whatever
Sadly CNN has trashed conservatives and the GOP for so long its sad that the camera guys are being belittled when the Obama drone deserve the trashing.
It really shows how the Dem party scare control over the media just like Chavez and Castro ‘s control .
WE need to be protesting in front of the Wash Compost, CNN, NBC , ABC headquaters in mass !
Today will be remembered as the day the shit hit the fan.
Now that is an awesome crowd!

That cool! I hope to meet him someday too. :)
The first image WAS of today’s rally. My husband & I were there. It is of Freedom Plaza (14th & Pennsylvania), 2 blocks from the White House. It is the start of the march to the Capitol, where the main part of the rally was held. At 1000, the space was filled building-to-building and the march began early... people were still on Pennsylvania Ave, arriving at the Capitol at Noon. There’s time-lapse video 0800-1130 on UTube.

Didn’t happen. And never accept a “source” that starts out “it is said. . .”
I was there and no one counted me or made me go through some gate.
There was no single entry point, and if there were, it would take hours to process thousands of people. Go to a presidential rally and see how long it takes to go through a security portal. 500,000 through a “gate”? Sorry. No way.
People accessed the rally from dozens of points anywhere along a one mile route.
There is no way to do an accurate count on these things. Once upon a time the Park Police would use aerial photos, count the numbers in a square, and multiply the squares for a total. They stopped because sides would use it for political purposes.
Look - stop getting wrapped up in this numbers game. 200 - 300 thousand is a HUGE number for these kinds of things. Accept it and be happy with it. It is one of the largest, spontaneous, unorganized rallies in DC history. The last time we had one this large was when the WW I veterans stormed Washington and MacArthur had to clean them out. At least Obama didn’t try that today. Maybe next one.
I have no idea how these crowds are measured anyway. I can look at a picture of a crowd and really can’t evaluate how many people are in it, except for the extremes.
I can tell the difference between a crowd of 5,000 and 50,000. I know what 20,000 people looks like from personal experience at sports arenas. But how do these media folks look at a picture of a crowd and have any idea whether it is 500,000 people or 750,000 people? Or a million?
I think they just make it up.
There were a very few portajohns at Freedom Plaza and down towards the Capitol. Nowhere near the number needed for the crowd that turned out. They vastly underestimated the crowd turnout, expecting maybe 30,000.
Why do you think he had to wait 55 minutes?
