I have a classmate that I re-met through our recent 40th year High School reunion that supports Obama on every Facebook poll ever published. Today, I Commented on her supportive post:

"I'm constantly amazed why anyone would think that Government can solve the "problems" of the poor. Please explain this line of thinking. I would Love to know. Seriously. Maybe i'm wrong. Thanks for reply."

Any ideas on what Her reply might be? I cannot imagine.

Why hasn’t $7 Trillon dollars thrown at poverty since
LBJ solved the poverty problem?

Why isn’t Russia the wealthiest nation? They had full guberment employment.

Why does Cuba, the darling of the sicko left, have a 3 month shortage of toilet paper. They too have full guberment employment.

On and on it goes... The leftist's argument is easily defeated with fact.
But they don't like facts and they certainly dislike self reliant people who transcend poverty. It's the leftist religion, victimhood. Your friend may be beyond recovery.

I guess a “now” without a “K” is forever present. (I’ll try to better next time).

I had a long Facebook argument with someone I was friends in high school with and haven’t spoken with in decades when I voted on a poll against Obama’s school speech. What’s really amazing is that liberals always feel it’s their right to challenge your views rather than accept that we have different ones. They’ll never agree to disagree and don’t have any good arguments other than Bush was bad or I can’t believe you think that.

Ayn Rand's advise was to ask the looters "why". They very seldom have a logical reason for what they do. As a woman, it really bothers me that women make up such a large portion of the left. To many woman are born/trained to operate with no logical reason for what they do. "It's just the right thing to do." Well, WHY is it right?

I can only hope that she will attempt to challenge me. She was head of our Class of ‘69, and the attempt to put my comments “down” are freely welcomed. It will truly be a welcome confrontation to put down the Liberal Elite. (and my reply will be spell=checked...lol). It’s really not funny though, as I am sure you Know.

I hate how the Liberals call us "uncompassionate" if we do anything that is "perceived" as anti-poor or anti-minority. "Their" compassion is setting these individuals up for doom. Very sad. Very short-sighted.

if she likes you as a friend she will not respond at all. If she doesn't care like most libs she will call you every name in the book. Libs don't care about anyone except themselves they only want government to do something in order to make themselves feel better.

After her attack.... ask her how she FEELS about Boxer and Obama going to jail soon over the birth certificate.
Crossing my fingers on that one!

Gummint can't redistribute wealth. It can only redistribute poverty. This is the entire point of "Atlas Shrugged". There. Now you don't have to read the book. LOL.

Mr. Ohaha is the most divisive arrogant one who was ever elected to that office.

I believe it will come out that he and his other communist radicals are actively betraying American troops in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He is out to destroy America economically and set up a totalitarian redistribution system in my country which benefits people who look like him. Unfortunately I and millions of others do not fit his stereotype of beneficial privileges.

You can not expect anything but divisiveness where this piece of scum is concerned.

I have a school friend I have known since 1967 that makes political posts on her Facebook Wall that are totally in line with how I knew her when we were in junior high and high school. We have had a re-acquaintance after our 20th reunion in 1993 but I could tell she was still very liberal so I keep the conversation away from political topics. While I am comfortable in my views and can be a good advocate, I have found the same as you that liberal arguments are generally one-dimensional, creating more heat than light. I have determined to keep my Facebook page non-political for that reason.

Funny, I recently had a similiar facebook experience. Everytime I see a lib post I politely counter point it. I really don’t know how all my H.S. friends are so lib? Below is the thread. After my last post it dissapeared of my wall.

“John Fossum No one should die because they cannot afford health care, and no one should go broke because they get sick. If you agree post this as your status for the rest of the day.September 3 at 11:55am ·

David Allen So, if somebody drops out of high school, lives a life of bad choices with drugs and other self abuse and then gets sick, the people that made good choices and work hard should be forced to pay for that person’s health care? There is no personal responsibility aspect? Nobody should commit a crime, wars shouldn’t happen, it’s not fair. Only Obama and the libs can save us.September 3 at 7:04pm ·

John FossumDavid, old friend, where have you been? Have you not been invited to the benefits for people whose illness exceeds their insurers obligation to pay? Have you not seen the seven year olds with leukemia who have exceeded their insurance “life time maximum” because of marrow transplants? It is not just the uninsured who present a problem, though ... Read Morethey rob the rest of us by not paying in, it is also the people who have insurance that is woefully inadequate to cover a real illness they did nothing to deserve. We all run the risk of cancer, or other debilitating illness at any time. I have seen it in my family, and I am sure you have in yours. I pay for the health care of anyone over 65, and most people who have little means already. Plus I pay over $20K a year for health care for my family. Why do you object to reforming the insurance system that taxes me so heavily and punishes those with severe illnesses by not adequately covering treatments? September 4 at 12:07am

James OstgardMany who oppose health care reform imply that those who cannot afford health care in this country must be in that position because of some personal moral failing (laziness leading to dropping out of school or failing to hold a job, the submission to the temptation of drug use, etc).

Teachers and store clerks sing in church, volunteer at soup kitchens, don’t smoke dope, but can’t afford adequate health care. Bernie Madoff worked hard and could afford health care, but made choices that were only “good” for him. (He WILL have an excellent government health plan for life).

Sacrifice is morally superior to acquisition. Society makes a “good” choice trying to limit the suffering of all people.... It is fair to take the true capitalist stance that if you’ve earned the assets to afford health care, you deserve a chance to live that is denied to those who are not materially successful. It is not fair to conflate capitalism and morality. That argument is a wolf in sheep’s clothing. September 4 at 12:29pm

Eric LarsonDavid — All those times when we were doing my paper route, and I would hit you in the stomach for some stupid joke you said, and you didn’t die because I didn’t punch hard enough, and you didn’t kill me in return, we were surrounded by a safety net of our parents creation. Not everyone has that, or maybe they don’t have enough of it. You and Ebenezer Scrooge may be right to trace that back to poor choices and character flaws. The Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come is the one to watch out for, I hear. In any event, great to hear from you, and especially refreshing to hear a dissenting opinion.September 4 at 12:53pm

David AllenEric! Wow, what a blast from the past. Hope you’re healthy, wealthy and wise. John, you’ve inspired me to go sailing myself tommorrow. Don’t get me wrong about healthcare. I’m all for reform. Real reform like tort reform. There is no way a small town GP should have to pay $150,000 malpractice insurance. Tax free health savings accounts. National markets for insurance. What I’m afraid of is the Gov. going into the insurance business. Their plan as of right now is to lose a trillion dollars per decade in that line. How can anybody be for a gov plan when they haven’t shared any specifics? How much for a family of 4? Deductible? What providers? Will it cover elective procedures? Abortions? Sex change operations? How about international travel? What is the name of the gov. agency? Not one real answer. I’ve worked for the gov. I’ve seent the incredible, disgusting waste. If anybody believes the gov will give everybody no limit, free health care, then I’ve got some nice land I’ll sell ya..
