President Barack Obamas address to Congress this evening was moving along fairly smoothly until he pledged that there was nothing in the legislation that would provide health care to the millions of illegal immigrants residing in the nation.
A cry of You lie! was audible from the Republican side of the aisle. The Associated Press reports that the heckler was South Carolina Republican Rep. Joe Wilson.
Its not true, the president responded to the outburst, while House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, seated behind the president, offered her mother-of-five glare towards the Republican side of the chamber. First Lady Michelle Obama was seen shaking her head from side to side.
While lawmakers may have become accustomed to that kind of language during the contentious town hall meetings in August, Wilsons outburst was uncommon for a joint session of Congress, where decorum usually reigns.
A spokesman for Wilson did not immediately return a request for comment.

Do you mind if I quote your last sentence? It’s excellent.
“President Barack Obamas address to Congress this evening was moving along fairly smoothly until he pledged that there was nothing in the legislation that would provide health care to the millions of illegal immigrants residing in the nation.”
I have not stayed up with this 1,000 plus page behemoth as well as I should, so I don’t know the part that says it will provide health care to illegal immigrants. Can someone point me in the right direction?
Just thought I’d toss this out there. Leftists are scary.

At least one congressman has some backbone to shout down the communist dictator.
Also notice when Barry Sotero defamed every police officer in the country he refused to apologize, instead saying everyone was "stupid" and carried blame. Yet even then the police officer agreed to personally meet with him over a beer.
But when a Republican makes a verbal mistake, he admits his error and apologizes outright.
And what does the magnanimous Barry Sotero do? He refuses to take the guy's phone call and instead hands him off to his flunky.
We should all work to make sure Wilson isn't hounded into resigning over this. Decorum is one thing; destroying the country from within is quite another. We should all be screaming.
Mc Cain is an embarrassment to the republican party.. that is IF he is really a republican or even a conservative
There used to be wonderful threads on FR about the Delphi Technique. This is one of the few left...

"I am Spartacus Joe Wilson!"
Not at all. Thank you.
Like when democrats BOOed W during one of his speeches to a joint session of Congress?
I learned about it from Ann Coulter, latest article and the one before that. http://www.anncoulter.com/
Never heard about the court ruling.
Nice. This is how politics used to be back in the days of the Founding Fathers, shouting, fisticuffs... none of this let’s be nice stuff that makes me want to vomit. -cyborg
” Joe Wilson showed guts and courage.”
” Until he apologized. Another spineless Republican wuss “
” This will hurt Republicans.”
Technically he apologized. I can forgive him for that small placate seeing as how it was preceded by a gift of lasting joy we conservatives will never forget.
The Libs will never live this down. And that’s just what you see in Pelosi’s infuriated eyes.
Let’s lavish so much praise on Wilson that the Republlcans at the next speech will feel free to join in.

Fast-forward to about 45:50 to see it. And at 46:05, take careful note of who you see in the lower left corner of the frame.
Hint: he didn't vote "present" this time.
Thanks for posting this. Rush mentioned it today and I planned to look for it online tonight.
