SNIPPET: "According to ITRR, the latest jihadist communication was unusual in that it was very explicit and open in targeting the Germans, in discussing a coming attack, and in specifying its timing. Aside from Ramadan, which ends 19 September 2009, the upcoming German national election on September 27 has been marked as a "red flag date" by ITRR."
SNIPPET: "German security services have also been cited in local media discussing stepped up jihadist chatter, threats and intelligence warnings aimed at the German state in recent months. Earlier this year, video messages delivered in German by an al-Qaeda fighter going by the name of Abu Talha, purportedly in Afghanistan, called on Germans to convert to Islam and remove their several thousand troops from the Afghan theater. According to a June report by Der Spiegel weekly, American intelligence agencies believe that al-Qaeda's leaders have decided to attack Germany, supposedly assigning the job to al-Qaeda of the Islamic Maghreb (North Africa)."

SNIPPET: “After dismantling the ‘Afghan channels’ whose goal was to send candidates to Jihad in Afghanistan, the anti-terrorism unit heard of a suspect who was contacted via the internet by a senior leader in ASIM and asked to commit a suicide-attack in France. The man refused, but an investigation revealed that other people received this proposition.
Though al-Qaeda is growing weaker in the Maghreb, the security services are taking this matter very seriously. However, they do not know whether there are terrorists willing to take action. According to RTL, the candidate hasn’t been found and he would then have to be trained in handling explosives

SNIPPET: WASHINGTON - Last week, German authorities discovered that groups of terrorists may have been dispatched from training bases in Pakistan to launch crippling attacks.
SNIPPET: They say as a minimum of 12 al-Qaida operatives who were trained in the tribal region of Pakistan have left the training camps and are headed back to their home countries. Spain, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy and Egypt are just some of those countries.
According to the source, the threat levels also were raised for many other Western European countries to include concerns for Turkish Airlines flying passengers from Istanbul to the U.S., the UK and Israel.
SNIPPET: Another source headed to Chicago from Istanbul said they were told that there was a specific threat against Turkish Airlines flights headed to those places.
In the U.S., Turkish Airlines flies to New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Charlotte, Tampa and Chicago.

Ditto.
Thanks mam.
This is true and I posted an item exactly about that a couple weeks ago. Politicians on the Right have been warning about this but the Left refuses to believe it as if it is some election time ploy.
Then the stupid Tom Ridge thing got blown out of proportion and I figured well Germany is going to get hit and it is too bad that is always what it takes for people to wake up.

SAFETY AND SECURITY: German authorities remain vigilant in combating the threat posed by foreign and resident extremists. Specific threats have been uncovered and prosecutions undertaken, though Germany itself has been largely free of terror incidents. However, like other countries in the Schengen area, Germanys open borders with its European neighbors allow the possibility of dangerous individuals entering/exiting the country with anonymity. Germany regularly experiences demonstrations on a variety of political and economic themes. Prior police approval is required for public demonstrations, and police oversight is routinely provided for participants and passersby. Nonetheless, these demonstrations can attract counter-demonstrators and have the potential to turn violent. In addition, hooligans, most often young intoxicated skinheads have been known to harass or even attack people whom they believe to be foreigners or members of rival groups. On occasion, American have reported that they were assaulted for racial reasons or because they appeared foreign. All Americans are cautioned to avoid the area around protests and demonstrations and to check local media for updates on the situation.
For the latest security information, Americans traveling abroad should regularly monitor the Departments web site at http://travel.state.gov, where the current Travel Alerts, including the Worldwide Caution, can be found.
Up-to-date information on security can also be obtained by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll free in the U.S., or, for callers outside the U.S. and Canada, a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).
The Department of State urges American citizens to take responsibility for their own personal security while traveling overseas. For general information about appropriate measures travelers can take to protect themselves in an overseas environment, see the Department of States A Safe Trip Abroad.

CRIME: Violent crime is rare in Germany- but can occur, especially in larger cities or high-risk areas such as train stations. Most incidents of street crime consist of theft of unattended items and pick-pocketing. There have been a few reports of aggravated assault against U.S. citizens in higher-risk urban areas. American travelers are advised to take the same precautions against becoming crime victims as they would in any American city.

INFORMATION FOR VICTIMS OF CRIME: The loss or theft abroad of a U.S. passport should be reported immediately to the local police and the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. If you are the victim of a crime while overseas, in addition to reporting to local police, please contact the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate for assistance. The Embassy or Consulate staff can, for example, assist you to find appropriate medical care, to contact family members or friends and explain how funds could be transferred. Although the investigation and prosecution of the crime is solely the responsibility of local authorities, consular officers can help you to understand the local criminal justice process and to find an attorney if needed. For more information on possible U.S. sources of assistance, see our information on Victims of Crime.
The local equivalent to the 911 emergency line in Germany is 112.
“Politicians on the Right have been warning about this but the Left refuses to believe it...”
That’s similar to the leftists here in the USA, in my opinion.
Unfortunately, apathy and political correctness keep people from keeping their eyes and memories wide open. A real, real shame.
I have to believe that the people that matter most in this (German security services) at least are on guard.
If it were all up to the Left they would have already surrendered to the Terrorists years ago. Except don’t call it “surrender”, call it “understanding” or some other word game BS they are always seeking to twist reality with and stroke their psyche on how smart they are.
Is there any doubt that a terrorist attack is exactly for that purpose?
A calculated risk at giving bringing power to the Left so they can surrender to the terrorist demands.
ping
I don’t think Germany is the target. It’s a diversion, a decoy. The 9/11 hijackers lived in Germany years before coming to the U.S. The target could very well be America.
The jihad is global — it can be anywhere, including the USA.
This threat however is a specific threat to Germany.
It is. The Euro/leftist/PC/welfare state has left them conquered in all but official proclamation.
Problem is...who is going to hold the hammer? Half the country is gay and the other half just started their six weeks vacation.
It does seem these terrorists understand one thing only, power.
Hit them and hit them hard. And hit them often.
And quit playing screw around and go get Bin Laden. Regardless of where he is hiding, take him out if he is standing in the Kremlin.
And who says that dialogue is a must in dealing with terrorism and future threats of catastrophic terrorism?
Let’s be serious and blunt here for a moment. Europe has been playing political correct and appeasement with terrorists, Islamic militants, etc. who can care less for the Western way of life, etc. for how long now and to what avail? Goes to show that one can talk till their blue in the face and the results will still be the same: An alleged “next 9/11.”
