The chattering classes are asking how someone with Van Jones' background was able to get appointed to a high ranking position in the Obama administration. The answer is easy, Obama had someone just like him at a high level of his presidential campaign from its beginning in early 2007 right through the November 2008 election.
Code Pink co-founder Jodie Evans, a California comrade of Jones, served as a member of Obama's finance team as a bundler, fundraising event host and was a maxed-out donor. She is also a 9/11 Truther who signed the same 9/11 conspiracy petition in 2004 that Van Jones did.
Evans also shares Jones' anti-American, pro-terrorist, radical environmental communist politics. They served together on the board of the Rainforest Action Network in the mid-2000s.
Like Jones, Evans is well known in California Democratic party circles where being anti-American is a requirement for advancement in the party. Obama caught zero grief from the mainstream media and the McCain campaign over Evans' involvement at the top levels of his campaign, so naturally Obama and his people would think Jones would skate right on through.

You really believe that the Secret Service didn’t know that Van Jones had signed a petition blaming George W. Bush for the 9/11 attacks. You really believe that they didn’t know about his prior arrests? Are you really that stupid?
They knew alright and, as is their duty, they informed the president of it.

I don’t think it was the truther thing that brought him down. It was part of it but it was mostly some of his other past comments and activities.
