(CNN) -- Could George W. Bush or some of his top aides end up behind bars?
It's extremely unlikely, but the Obama administration is taking its first steps along a path that could lead in that direction, with the investigation of Central Intelligence Agency interrogators involved in the war on terror.
"You don't know where these things are going to end up," former CIA agent Peter Brookes told me. "They could go to very high levels in the government."
The probe will focus on whether interrogators exceeded their instructions and broke the law when, for example, they choked a prisoner until he lost consciousness or threatened another one with a gun and a power drill.

His numbers are in free fall. They can't propose anything to turn that around so they go back to the tried and true mantra of condemning the Bush administration.
It's not a good policy but a poor defense is better than no defense. I honestly do not believe it will go the distance.
He will cause people to consider which is better, a policy to keep terrorists out of the country or one that brings terrorists into the country. I don't think he wants to go there.
We could get 10 million people to march on Washington if they did this.
Bring it on. It would start a civil war in this country. This is banana republic behavior.
Most members of the military would not go to war against their own parents who raised them, and I’m sure at least half of the Generals would resign if given orders to suppress our uprising.
Things are getting interesting.
Hell, a lot of conservatives would agree with them.
It is far more likely that the British Indonesian citizen born in Mombasa Kenya, Barry Soetoro, will end up in prison.
BO will be behind bars....Not W
They’d see community organizing, up close and personal if they try...Hey Barry, guess what, if the Congress swings to the GOP in Nov 2010, you might not finish your term...IMPEACH SOTERO Now...
Or as DRey suggested in #12, it's to distract conservatives from all the other garbage going on right now. Although, if anybody in the State Run Media or the left thinks they're actually helping O by floating this, it's an insanely risky proposition.
An awful lot of Americans voted for the reasonable-sounding candidate Obama who promised to abandon all the hyper-partisan garbage in Washington, heal the rifts & bring America together. If leftists want to seriously float the prospect of even the potential of this happening as a result of Obama's CIA show trials, it's going to boomerang bigtime with the last holdouts in the middle who voted for this POTUS & have heretofore been loathe to admit they made one big-a$$ed mistake (i.e., lib Republicans, moderate dems & indies). His poll no.'s should take yet another substantial hit should the specter of Obama jailing his predecessor - even in the hypothetical - gather widespread currency around the watercooler.
He so ignored his base that hardly anyone will defend him for anything. He is responsible for what happened in the 2008 election.
“That prosecuting a previous administration wont lead to their own eventual prosecution? “
No way. There isn’t a republican anywhere in Washington DC with the “chutzpah” to EVER turn on their “friends across the aisle”.
They desperately need to have W back as the head-demon. Obama only functions well when he’s got a demon to “fight.” Bush has been quiet since the election, giving the Obamites no target—but if they drag him into court with all kinds of trumped-up charges of war crimes, they think this might do the trick. Cheney, too, of course.
I hope someone is keeping track of all the unconstitutional and illegal stuff the moron in the White House is doing because I want him behind bars once his term is up. Or hell, sooner if possible.
Lemme put it this way, if they go down this road I am grabbing my gun and the revolution is ON.
If the LEFT Truly wants a fight, let them try this ghit.
NUFF SAID
They’ll have to go through the Texas Rangers. And I don’t mean the baseball team.
