(CNN) -- Could George W. Bush or some of his top aides end up behind bars?
It's extremely unlikely, but the Obama administration is taking its first steps along a path that could lead in that direction, with the investigation of Central Intelligence Agency interrogators involved in the war on terror.
"You don't know where these things are going to end up," former CIA agent Peter Brookes told me. "They could go to very high levels in the government."
The probe will focus on whether interrogators exceeded their instructions and broke the law when, for example, they choked a prisoner until he lost consciousness or threatened another one with a gun and a power drill.

MAJOR BUMP!
One week from today -- Saturday September 12, 2009 -- we will see if the American people have the guts for any of this! If they don't come out now, they never will, IMHO.
NO! As I said upthread, you Bush Bashers are every bit as responsible for that piece of work as ACORN and their vote fraud tactics. Quit blaming President Bush for everything and look in a mirror!
Oh dear God ... another one!
BUMP!
I think that BHO and his DemoNazi cronies should all be thrown in jail for the crap they are doing to this Great Country.
Include the sobs that voted for him and I am with you.
He will be dead before W is behind bars
Duncan L. Hunter
Duncan D. Hunter
Alan Keyes
James Inhofe
Michele Bachmann
Jim DeMint
Sam Johnson
Steve King
Jeff Sessions (notwithstanding his comments on Sotomayor )
Tom Coburn (notwithstanding recent actions and support of McCain)
I know there are a couple more somewhere, I just can't think of them at the moment.
Oh, man! That’s a GOOD one, as much as anything because I can see it happening!
Do a little research. The "bank bailout" was not a goof and was absolutely necessary at the time to stop the complete economic collapse of the US and thus the world economy.
CONgre$$ controlls the purse strings, not the executive. And please don't go the he could have vetoed route unless you know exactly what else was in the bills and the history behind them.
Of course not! Jennifer Brunner, SoS for Ohio should be behind bars!
No truer words.....
Good to "see" you again, MJY!
Sad but true! Thanks for the post!
(Still maniacal Bush haters around here, I see. Can't even defend our honorable President when he's being attacked by Marxist thugs. PATHETIC LITTLE PEOPLE!!)
What is missing in a person's soul that the FIRST response they have to this unConstitutional travesty, is to attack the target of the Marxists?
I truly believe some of these pathological Bush haters are long term trolls here who don't have a conservative bone in their bodies.
The problem with what Obama did with the CIA is that you can’t control where a Special Prosecutor goes.
This thing will have unlimited money. Of course, the CIA guys will say they were following orders, and the SP Office will walk back the cat up the chain of command. I know I would.
This is being done to appease the Left in case Obama has to take defeat on HC and Cap and Trade. The Left wants Bush, and Obama will give him to them.
Best,
Chris
“How wonderful it is to see the support and respect President always receives even from the conservatives that disagreed with his policies.”
It’s the same support and respect any liberal politician should receive from conservatives.
“The Left wants Bush, and Obama will give him to them.”
Soros wants W and TOTUS will try to give him to it......
Sock puppet reads what he’s supposed to do.
This will fail. Ft. Hood is in Texas, with Ft. Sill in OK. THere’s the US Army and Hood. That’s all you need to know. Benning and Bragg can join in when they want to.
Pseudo-conservatives. Every one of you. EVERY one of you.
“PATHETIC LITTLE PEOPLE!!”
Bush was another LBJ who tried to sink the GOP and may have succeeded (not that the GOP didn’t work on that too). What is there to defend? You think you’re the bigger person for defending someone who sided with Teddy Kennedy against his own party? If being honorable means holding to the oath you took, then Bush was not honorable - he SIGNED CFR after saying he KNEW it was unconstitutional.
He was an LBJ or an FDR, not a Reagan. He believed government was the solution and should be bigger. That is indefensible.
I would oppose this witch hunt on legal grounds if against even Clinton (and Clinton probably DID do things that were illegal, not just unconstitutional like Bush), but I would defend the Office of the President, not the particular politician who occupies or occupied it.
