Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: -12
Rasmussen Reports ^
Posted on 09/02/2009 6:27:58 AM PDT by DadOfFive
Wednesday, September 02, 2009 Email to a Friend ShareThisAdvertisement The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 28% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -12 (see trends). Republicans have opened their largest lead yet over Democrats on the Generic Congressional Ballot.
However, Republican voters say that GOP representatives in Congress are still out of touch with the party base. Most say that the average Republican in Congress is more liberal than the average Republican voter. Unlike Republicans, Democratic voters say that their partys Congressmen and voters hold similar views. Forty-two percent (42%) say people randomly selected from the phone book could do a better job than the current Congress.
The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.
A Month-by-Month Review of the Presidents ratings shows that the Presidential Approval Index served as a leading indicator by declining months before the Presidents overall job approval ratings fell.
Overall, 46% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-three percent (53%) now disapprove.
While much commentary has been written about how tough August was for Democrats, a review of the data suggests July was really the tougher month. The Presidents Job Approval ratings fell more sharply in July than August. Additionally, the number of people who consider themselves Democrats fell to a two-year low in July before inching up slightly in August. Overall, 37.3% of Americans now consider themselves Democrats while 32.6% are Republicans.

However, Republican voters say that GOP representatives in Congress are still out of touch with the party base. That's a warning they'd better be aware of.

Forty-two percent (42%) say people randomly selected from the phone book could do a better job than the current Congress. Congress would do a better job using randomly selected third graders.

Obama's words made him popular, and his actions, his deeds are making him unpopular. This is a formula for extreme distrust, bad enough-but could morph into a feeling of being duped, on the part of voters, which would be exponentially worse for Obama and his party.
I can't deny I'm loving this!
