Aides to President Barack Obama are putting the final touches on a new strategy to help Democrats recover from a brutal August recess by specifying what Obama wants to see in a compromise health care deal and directly confronting other trouble spots, West Wing officials tell POLITICO.
Obama is considering detailing his health-care demands in a major speech as soon as next week, when Congress returns from the August recess. And although House leaders have said their members will demand the inclusion of a public insurance option, Obama has no plans to insist on it himself, the officials said.
Were entering a new season, senior adviser David Axelrod said in a telephone interview. Its time to synthesize and harmonize these strands and get this done. Were confident that we can do that. But obviously it is a different phase. Were going to approach it in a different way. The president is going to be very active.

“Can I believe my lying eyes?”
In a word, no. Axelrod can’t be trusted. Ever. What can be expected, is newer, grander obfuscation from the originator of “astroturfing”, brought to you with the bottomless generosity of your hopelessly over-leveraged ‘Uncle (taxpayers).
Poor fellow. The strain is just too much for him.
Gee whiz, can you believe it?
I just heard David Axelrod say that there was going to be NO public option in the new "synthesized" and "harmonized" Healthcare Bill.
Isn't that just swell!
Apparently Obama dosn’t understand that we don’t want him touching any aspect of our healthcare. NONE OF IT!
they are gonna play incrementalism
the american people need to continue to say NO to ANY health reform bill in ANY form
Beck, drama queen that he is, is spot on about Van Jones.
He is one scary guy and no one is talking about him except Glenn Beck. so I have to give him props for keeping the heat on.
Hopefully people are now waking up to this activist. We need to stand up and vote anyone who agrees with this administration and the Czars OUT!!! I’m starting with Gillibrand, Schumer and my so called house rep, Tonko.
Oh really. I wonder what the slave masters will call the government takeover of health care now. These Harvard cronies are so good with words./s
Hmmm... lets see...
1. Its not a government takeover
2. You get to keep your plan/doctor
3. No death panels
4. It will reduce costs and improve quality
And now....
5. There is not a public option.
Question... What is Social Security?
What is Medicare and Medicaid?
Sounds to me like they just figured out that they already have what they’ve been trying to pass....
What is another lie added to the list?
Robbed.
Not good news. They’ll pass it without it, then put it back in or pass another bill with it in. NO to any healthcare bill.
I think co-ops is the name you are looking for which is just another name for public option.
Well then, thank you and wiki. :)
Now let us stir it up realllll good. Get on liberal boards and pose as extreme leftists and start peppering him from the LEFT with extreme anger and disappointment, get them all riled up, and drive wedges and fissures among their ranks and split them on the Democrat side. It can be done.
Leave me alone. Leave the fruits of my labor alone. Leave my health insurance alone. Don't tell me I can't make my own arrangements to be treated for any illness that I may suffer from at any point in my life. Get the hell out of my life.
The more he talks the lower his numbers will go because only the hard corp leftist (and not even some of them) believe what he is saying. He is being seen as a snake oil salesman now by a lot of people. His agenda is tanking and axelrod needs to return to Chicago and hang out there instead of trying to ruin our way of life.
Well Pelosi has bigger ones than zero and she already said that no bill goes through the house unless it has the public option. This should be interesting.
