It's Official: No Public Option from Obama (Drudge Headline)
Politico.com ^ | 9/1/2009

Aides to President Barack Obama are putting the final touches on a new strategy to help Democrats recover from a brutal August recess by specifying what Obama wants to see in a compromise health care deal and directly confronting other trouble spots, West Wing officials tell POLITICO.

Obama is considering detailing his health-care demands in a major speech as soon as next week, when Congress returns from the August recess. And although House leaders have said their members will demand the inclusion of a public insurance option, Obama has no plans to insist on it himself, the officials said.

“We’re entering a new season,” senior adviser David Axelrod said in a telephone interview. “It’s time to synthesize and harmonize these strands and get this done. We’re confident that we can do that. But obviously it is a different phase. We’re going to approach it in a different way. The president is going to be very active.”

But will 8 million Americans be able to keep their HSA/HDHP?

Page 167 of 3200 would make coverage by Health Savings Accounts/ High Deductible Health Plans impossible.

I cannot find a single democrat willing and able to engage on this question. Anywhere. Including my two very dumb Senators (Udall and Bennet) and their staffs.

Their “answer” amounts to “trust us.”

They probably haven’t gotten to page 167 yet. Which is reason enough to dump these dopes.

Obama has shown his hand the first time around and I think any Health Care Reform now is dead in the water ...no matter how Axelrod frames it !!

These Thugs ...still don't get it !!

They have lost the trust of the people and there is no recovering from it !!

The more speeches he gives ...the less the people will listen !!

So I say ....BRING IT ON AGAIN AXELROD ....with no public option you will loose support from your liberal loonies and not gain any support from the center who already mistrusts the fraud that is Obama !!

Depends on what they are....we already have co-ops. If it just expands the current ones, it’s not an issue. If it sets something up that would be more government-controlled, problem.

The co-op proposal I heard would be funded and run by government with a national board chosen by the President.

Does that sound anything like a co-op?

I’d like to talk but need to go to the DU board and watch the meltdown.

Just make sure you shower in scalding hot water with plenty of anti-bacterial soap before you step back in here, young man.

LOL. See ya when you get back. Can't wait to here what they're saying.

1. I don’t believe lying socialists.

2. I believe this is a lie.

3. I believe even if they say they won’t ‘insist’ on it, Congress will and he’d sign it if it came to his desk with it in the bill.

4. Even if it doesn’t come along in the bill, this is incrementalism, they know it will eventually get put into law.

We need to derail the whole effort and get government OUT of health care, not immeshed deeper into it. We gotta take the whole thing out entirely.

There isn’t any tort reform, which they admitted they didn’t want to correct because it’d irritate the trial lawyers. Well look at who’ve you all decided to irritate instead - the American people. You think the trial lawyers would have been bad, what do you think the town hall reactions are all about? You think we’ll let you serve another term if you vote for this? Not even the trial lawyers have enough money to save your asses.

Obama will probably try to offer a "reasonable" alternative to the House of Representatives bill

Yep, I can see him following the words on Teleprompter now:

Obama: "The message from the Town Halls meetings came back loud and clear -- the Republicans in Congress are being unreasonable. To be bipartisan and meet them half way, here are the new elements of my plan ..."

Labor leaders drew a line in the sand today, saying a health care reform bill must include three specific elements — including a government-sponsored health insurance plan, or “public option” — in order to win their support.

The AFL-CIO outlined its demands for both health care and labor law reforms at a meeting today at which it released a new survey of young workers. The data backs up its progressive agenda and attempts to give it a sense of urgency.

The “Young Workers: A Lost Decade” poll, conducted in July of this year, found that 31 percent of workers under 35 report being uninsured, up from 24 percent 10 years ago. Counter to arguments that young people do not want to pay for insurance, 79 percent of the uninsured said they do not have coverage because they cannot afford it or their employer does not offer it.

Here comes the old bait and switch tactic. Don’t like the “public option”? No problem, we’ll just call it something else. Same crap, different name.

The president is going to be very active.

That's good news. The more active he is, the more his approval ratings fall. But we all know they are not giving up the public option.
