BOSTON President Barack Obama led the nation Saturday in mourning and remembering "the greatest legislator of our time," celebrating the indelible impact of Edward M. Kennedy as a senator for nearly a half-century and leader of America's most famous family during tragedy and triumph.
Delivering an emotional, simple eulogy for Kennedy that capped a two-hour Roman Catholic funeral Mass, Obama employed humor, his own experiences and timeless anecdotes to memorialize the senator, who died Tuesday at 77 after battling brain cancer for more than a year. The country may have viewed him as "heir to a weighty legacy," Obama said, but he was playfully known by the youngest Kennedys less grandly: as the big cheese, "The Grand Fromage."
"Ted Kennedy's life's work was not to champion those with wealth or power or special connections," Obama said. "It was to give a voice to those who were not heard, to add a rung to the ladder of opportunity, to make real the dream of our founding."

He may well have been the greatest legislator of our time. ANd that’s the problem. We have had way too much legislation.
I turned the TV off when it was his turn to speak.
He only speaks lies in my opinion.
After all, he did try to claim a homestead exemption on his DC home until he got caught. Blamed it on the bookkeeper.
And that's why when Teddy's mother, Rose Kennedy, died, her estate was probated in much more inheritance-friendly Florida, where she had a home, and not in Massachusetts. Petty concerns about such trivialities as the law that requires estates be probated where the person had their legal home were just shrugged aside. Never mind that one has to actually LIVE in a state to be a resident; even though Rose hadn't left Massachusetts in about twelve years, her family insisted that in her heart, she just KNEW she was a Floridian and wanted her estate settled that way.
Where’s the BARF Alert?
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a member of Congress. But I repeat myself.

I suppose by that definition he’d be the greatest idiot.
I found it hard to believe they were GOING! It would seem they could have found SOME legitimate excuse....
The Catholic church passes on another teaching moment.
Did anyone else notice Hillary chatting it up with Bush? Aad what was slick willy yappin to falsemessiah about? NOTICE the Carter’s steered clear of the Clintoon’s? They really must be in a feud.
Surprised the church did not fall down when the O bozo arrived.
Meanwhile, this will be a cheap embalming, he was already preserved in Al.
Vince
If he had died last year, he would’ve gotten a classy Presidential eulogy.
Did he demand that Christian symbols be covered up before speaking??
Throw some dirt in the hole and get it over with already.
Look at Clinton’s clenched jaw and Obambi’s nose in the air, egos you cannot measure. Bush looks like the only one who is relaxed.
I didn't see any emotion at all. Did anyone else see any emotion?
And here's big Teddy objecting to a nice "green" wind farm that would be too near his own backyard:
Kennedy doesn't play by the rules
...But like a lot of well-to-do Cape and Islands landowners and sailing enthusiasts, Kennedy doesn't want to share his Atlantic playground with an energy facility, no matter how clean, green, and nearly unseen. Last month he secretly arranged for a poison-pill amendment, never debated in either house of Congress, to be slipped into an unrelated Coast Guard bill. It would give the governor of Massachusetts, who just happens to be a wind farm opponent, unilateral authority to veto the Cape Wind project.... When word of the amendment leaked out, environmentalists were appalled....
Obama doesn't do emotion. It has to be edited in by the media, who are all too happy to oblige.
“Throw some dirt in the hole and get it over with already.”
You got that right!!! Even Fox news is sucking up. Thank God for Andy Griffith reruns.
And as usual with the dems, the voice of the people fell on deaf ears.
I wished/HOPEd for a moment they would burst into flames or bugs would appear all over their bodies from thr effects of the smoke and where they were(in a beautiful Catholic church)Anyone else endured this event until the end and also see this???
