Kiernan, Vander Plaats trade blows over ‘guns and ammunition’ comment

A comment made over the weekend by Sioux City businessman Bob Vander Plaats has sparked a war of words between the Republican gubernatorial candidate and the state Democratic Party chair.

While criticizing national Democrats’ plans for health care reform at a dinner hosted by Black Hawk County Republicans on Sunday night, Vander Plaats said “That’s why (President) Barack Obama has been really, really good for two industries — guns and ammunition.”

Iowa Democratic Party Chair Michael Kiernan called the comment “outrageous, irresponsible and very dangerous.” He also demanded Vander Plaats retract the statement and disavow such “inflammatory speech” in the future.

I do wonder why I cannot purchase more ammo.

(Preparing for Obama’s army....or should I say against Obama’s army.)

Conversations with my military friends have assured me on which side they would be.

What's so inflamatory about the statement? If Obama was a known foe of baked beans who was just waiting for a time he could ban them, people would be stockpiling cans of them and looking into homemade recipes while Van Camps made money hand over fist.

“That’s why (President) Barack Obama has been really, really good for two industries — guns and ammunition.”

Is there audio of that? I want to put it into a couple of those Hallmark record a cards.

Might be fun to make it play back when someone rings the doorbell too! (Census takers are a comin)

“The rhetoric of armed extremists has no place in the race for Governor and is outside the bounds of what’s acceptable to Iowans,”

Armed extremists ????

How about responsible citizens. Typical libtard ... attributing the spike in guns and ammos sales to extremists ... good Lord, my "never get upset about anything" wife has purchased a pistol and joined the NRA since these assclowns took power.

I love how lately the leftists tack on the descriptor "dangerous".

I've seen it a few times lately, in reference to Conservative views.

I'll tell you what's dangerous: The coming Civil War, fomented by a traitorous non-citizen president and his fellow-traveling socialist/communist goons who just happen to hate all white people as well as free market capitalism and the creation of wealth that goes along with it.

Frankly, I welcome my new black liberation communist masters, and my new digs at death camp #23a are right cozy....

If the people buying guns and ammo were truly “armed extremists” we would have seen an approximate 40% jump in crime witht he spike in sales of guns and ammo.

But we have not.

Anti-gunners only friends are Illogic and Obfuscation.

Funny how the dim dems can't see what a dangerous world we live in and how they are helping to make it imminently more dangerous.

They live in a land of make believe where fuzzy feelings, false promises, and words with no consequences equate to their power. So far it has worked all too often.

Funny how when they have lied and scared people into voting for them in the past, it doesn't count.

I never owned a gun until Oct 2008.

Now? I have about 12.

I simply do not trust these people as far as you can throw them.

“Conversations with my military friends have assured me on which side they would be.”

I'm a little unsure of this. I have been watching videos of the National Guard on youtube after Katrina. They had no problem going door to door entering private homes with guns in shooting position and confiscating all guns without cause. This was in areas unaffected by the hurricane. One young soldier even mentioned that he would shoot Americans if necessary.

I think that's why the military began asking soldiers to list their home guns. They want to know who might oppose the coming Obama dictatorship.

The anti gunners are just another species of maniacal control freaks. Have youall noticed something? Ususally during downturns, crime goes up. Since a lot of us have armed up and the news is really out there, I would bet that the bad guys have been paying attention as well. So, based on that gun/ammo sales to law abiding citizens helps to reduce crime. Hey anti’s, how do you answer that?
