Just heard on noon news that Kennedy will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. What an insult to our troops!
I expect my Dad's will say much the same. Not many veterans of all three left.
Such a shame. Just when Obama was trying to improve his golf game.
Bad timing, Teddy.
Merely being an elected official isn’t enough to be buried in Arlington. The requirements have been posted a couple times, or you can google them at “burial at Arlington.”
Not just any servicemember can be buried at Arlington. I’m not qualified, for instance, because I didn’t retire from the military, have the correct medals, or, obviously, die in combat. About the only way I could qualify to be buried in Arlington is if I later became an elected official of the US government. In that event, it would still be military service + being an elected official = Arlington interment, not being elected alone.
You got that much right.
He'd create a tsunami that would destroy the East Coast.
When President John F. Kennedy visited a cemetery in Bitburg, leftists harped on the fact that somm SS were buried there. At that time, my Army brother (three bronze stars) said: “Every cemetery on earth has some son-of-a-bitch buried in it.”
Looking the Bitburg story up on Goggle, I find that leftists are today saying that Reagan then put a weath on an SS grave.
That’s a lie. From www.RonaldReagan.com I have ...
“Deaver chose a German military cemetery near Bitburg for Reagan to lay a wreath while on a visit. To the president’s embarrassment, the cemetery turned out to contain the graves of 49 members of Adolf Hitler’s elite SS troops. Reagan refused to drop the appearance from his schedule in spite of withering criticism.”
I believe he spent part of the Korean War stationed in Paris.
It is too bad that all the hard work and time put into the Sept. 12th march on Washington will be clouded with the imbecile MSM quoting from this thread how many people commented in this thread how they plan to urinate on Kennedy’s grave. As well as all the other comments.
Then he should be burried in France - where he served and never rose above the rank of private. Daddy got him out of a 4 year committment and Korea.
RE:
“While stationed in Europe he traveled extensively on weekends and climbed the Matterhorn.”
**************************************
Given his collegiate study habits, might we wonder if he paid somebody to CARRY him up the Matterhorn?
I wonder how many Sherpas it took to pack the booze up?
(Tch-tch.. here I go being ‘juvenile’ again...)
IIRC, he was quietly removed when a whole shiite load of real military retirees were scheduled to show up with shovels and unceremoniously remove him forthwith.
The Lyin' of the Senate signed up for the Army. He mistakenly signed for a 4 year tour. Joe P. Sr. got that taken care of. Teddy's tour was lowered to 2 years and he was sent to Europe (Paris, I think) whilst the war was in the Far East.
I can't criticize the Kennedys regarding war service. Joe P Jr. was killed in a very risky attempt to fly a robot B-24 into a V3 rocket lauch site. Joe and his co-pilot were supposed to bail out before the Liberator reached its target, but the bomb-filled plane blew up prematurely. He volunteered for this mission after he had already flown 25 or more missions over Europe as a bomber pilot.
John F. served as a Naval officer in WW2 (as did Richard Nixon).
And Teddy did serve two years.
You must be too young to know the depths of anger felt by those who’s names and reputations were soiled by Ted Kennedy.
No, I am quite old enough to know that this thread is full of hate that is not necassary to the cause.
Secondly, as the eternal book of Proverbs declares in Proverbs 11:10
When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices, but when the wicked perish, there are shouts of joy!!

During parts of the Vietnam war you could enlist for two years, get 6 weeks of “Project Transition” at the end of your time in service where you worked at a civilian job (for training and familiarization)of your choice as a civilian, and then also get a 3 month early out.
