I stayed away from all news sources when I heard. My condolences to his family.

“Well, it just hit FR. They are trying to name the health care bill after him!
parsy, who anticipated as much”
Yep, you did! And I’ll go one further...will we soon hear publicly of some kind of supposed deathbed request calling on us to pass the legislation? You know....”In his final days...his focus still remained on passing legislation that would provide health care for the needy”....or some such B.S.

OMG! You’re right. What if they have a video, and his last words are “Health care. Go win one for the Tedster”

I think he was about to wright a book. He may have contacted certain people to help him with it. I'm not sure but the book could have exposed a few of the liberal Rats.
I think he was very jealous of his bothers, he was nothing more than a lush. The Kennedy's yes have done some good but the little bit of good they have done doesn't out way the bad. +

What fight? Election fraud is not a fight. He has already asked that his Wife replace him.
The have got to replace him with another RAT if they want to keep a filibusters proof Senate. Acorn is getting Billions of dollars to keep these RATs in office. We'll be lucky if we every truly see another real election.
They have to stay in power to keep the criminals safe, like stopping the investigations that were to take place on Bill Richardson. Richardson should have been behind bars many times over. It would do this country a lot of good if Richardson followed Kennedy.

I bet his wife is in her glory, the DRUNK is gone, she’ll be looking for wealth and power. She seems to make it a point of being seen.

He doesn't need a photo op any more or a phony knee surgery. Hitlary is still looking for a photo op, her sprained arm didn't go over to big.

I am a tombstone fan now that I’ve seen the potential exhibited by the “Bye” tombstone.
What would Al Franken’s tombstone read?

I am well aware of the facts of MJK and I bring it up often if not always in conversations regarding Kennedy. However, while I didn’t assert that you said they were equal, comparing Kennedy in ANY WAY to Saddam is ludicrous. I don’t think Kennedy gives a rat’s butt about too many other than himself, but he didn’t drive off that bridge intentionally, and he isn’t a murderous thug that’s gassed innocents to keep his regime alive. Whatever he is, and you can use your own words if you want — is nowhere near Saddam Hussain.
That doesn’t mean I think Kennedy was much more than a POS. He wasn’t. But I blame the idiots that kept electing him more than I do him for his reign of error on this country.

I’m no scholar, but I’d imagine if there is solid evidence/testimony that he received the Sacrament of Extreme Unction shortly before his death, there would be no impediment to a Catholic funeral. In Catholicism, it’s all about the state of one’s soul at the moment of death; the life lived previously is irrelevant, as far as eternal salvation goes, and practically speaking, as far as whether or not a Mass can be celebrated.
Since it’s likely he did receive the Sacrament, then even the Pope wouldn’t dare deny his family a Catholic funeral Mass and burial, as it would go against what is, perhaps, the most basic dogma of Catholicism, which is there is always time for repentance and forgiveness. Whether or not he was truly repentant at the moment of his death is something only his Judge can determine. However, here on earth we can only go by what is witnessed, which (most likely) was a public display of repentance.
So, IOW the issue is moot. Again, all IMO.

I do not recall hearing that he was provably involved in outright crime Best guess is that he was DUI at the time of the accident, and that is a crime.
To: john in springfield
I do not recall hearing that he was provably involved in outright crime Oh, and leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, duh! Excusable if running to the nearest phone to call for help, perhaps in time to save the poor girl, but quite the crime if leaving in the hopes of avoiding involvement.
