Daily Presidential Tracking Poll -- 0bama now at -14!
Rasmussen Reports ^ | 23 August 2009 | Scott Rasmussen

Posted on 08/23/2009 6:35:52 AM PDT by ScottinVA

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Sunday shows that 27% of the nation's voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty-one percent (41%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14. These figures mark the lowest Approval Index rating yet recorded for this President. The previous low of -12 was reached on July 30 (see trends).

Prior to today, the number who Strongly Approved of the President’s performance had never fallen below 29%. Some of the decline has come from within the President’s own party. Just 49% of Democrats offer such a positive assessment of the President at this time.

At the other end of the spectrum, today’s total for Strongly Disapprove matches the highest level yet recorded. The 41% mark was reached just once before and that came one week ago today. Seventy percent (70%) of Republicans now Strongly Disapprove along with 49% of those not affiliated with either major party.

Check out our review of last week’s key polls to see “What They Told Us.” Topics include health care, the deficit, stimulus package, state polls and more.

The Presidential Approval Index is calculated by subtracting the number who Strongly Disapprove from the number who Strongly Approve. It is updated daily at 9:30 a.m. Eastern (sign up for free daily e-mail update). Updates also available on Twitter and Facebook.

Overall, 48% of voters say they at least somewhat approve of the President's performance. Fifty-one percent (51%) now disapprove.

what’s the over/under on the date we hear the first rumblings in the press about “Hillary to challenge the President in the 2012 primaries?”

1CM68,

Agreed. Still, our National Guards won’t let him slaughter us. Because not only they are our kids, but also they know, they will be next in the disarmament department!

0dung0 needs his loyal union thugs armed to the teeth and taking over all aspects of our lives.

No kidding! Honestly, what kind of verbiage is that for a President to use? This guy has no idea of how to conduct himself in public and is a total embarrassment.

Of course, the “young people” will think he is totally cool and “down” but since few of them understand how to conduct themselves in public either, it’s a moot point.

While much of the disapproval has come from Democrats, nearly half of independents now strongly disapprove -- not just disapprove, but strongly disapprove.

So, how do Republicans not scare these voters away?

Wonderful news, especially since as best I can tell, Ras seems to be a “leading” pollster, meaning he seems to pick up trends before the others. Now those who strongly disapprove are at 41%, and when you reach 50%, ball game. You can’t come back from half the public strongly disliking everything you do; and we’ll never get to 100%, because 12% of the population is black and will back him even if he hands New Jersey over to Castro, and you have about 3% of the others who are looney whackos and who would sink this country before admitting they are wrong.

He’s lost the elderly Democrats with his socialized health care “reform”, who fully understand that this program can’t pay for insuring 25 million illegals without hammering THEIR benefits. Palin’s “death panel” message was VERY resonant. This whoe fiasco was a BIG mistake, because not only has he lost this critical (and under the right circumstances, VERY outspoken) block to this issue but he’s lost their trust with his profligate lying in order to ram it through. You can fake your way into office, but once in, there you are.

There are now going to be more conversations where the strong disapprovers will be able to talk without being screamed at. We may be close to the tipping point.

I work with a large number of BO supporters. At work the other day, a girl outside of my office was complaining that her husband is taking a 20% paycut (this year, 10% more next)...

One guy in a cube outside (dunno his pol leanings, but I can guess now...) whined loudly "I WANT my STIMULUS PACKAGE!". I asked loudly...."How's that hope and change working out for you?".

Not a peep. Nada. A few months ago, there would have been howls of derision. Might have needed to talk to HR for an "Attitude Adjustment".

The times, they are a changin'.

Oh this pic is just the thing the GOP does NOT want to see. When the GOP grows a spine and shows their gonads, I might just start voting for them again and even re-register as a GOP. I am so damn tired of listening to the likes of Michael Meds and Hugh Hewitt saying we are “the mob” for likening the Socialist program of Obama to that of Germany in the 1930s. When the GOP supporters choose to ignore history because it makes us look like “kooks and conspiracy nuts”, then I am through with them.

But zero doesn’t care. The only poll that mattered to him was on election day and now he has the power to cram through his redistribution agenda even though we hate it.

The ONLY thing protecting us is the protesting in the streets and the Congress people who do want to be reelected.

-14???? But the vile prick propagandists on TV last year before the election told me -14bama was just a good ole centrist who would be transparent and go through spending bills line by line and heal the planet and bring hope and change or was that change and hope.

NOT THIS SOCIALIST TAKEOVER OF OUR LIVES AND COUNTRY.

In other words, these people strongly disapproved 0bama because in their view he was not leftist enough.

An analogous phenomenon afflicted Bush. Many conservatives and libertarians strongly disapproved of some (certainly not all) of this policies.

At a farmer’s market in downtown Portland there was a anti-Obama booth run by guys who had voted for him and are now pissed. They told my friend that 70% of the Obama voters who came by are regretting what they did.

The lower his polls go, the better chance the Blue Dogs have to stick together and vote no. They’re a major part in this whole equation. They stalled this thing on purpose before the recess, at least that’s my understanding.

Some of the decline has come from within the President’s own party.

So I've heard. They're ticked off because they think B-HO has unnecessarily compromised -- that he hasn't been nearly liberal enough.
