Chile detected the H1N1 swine flu virus in turkeys, authorities said on Thursday, the first time the virus has been found outside humans or pigs.
Chile's farming and livestock agency SAG said the flu outbreak had been controlled at the two farms 75 miles (120 km) west of the capital Santiago.

If the virus is infecting turkeys, Obama will probably catch it. For he is the biggest turkey of all.
That's because you are my sons age.
My mother go Gullian-Barre disease from the flu shot in 1976. She was left paralized in her right leg...many died.
thanks, bfl
Im no doctor but wouldn’t logic dictate that once it jumps from Human to “turkey” the strain name would change. Now it effects a human and 2 animals, rather then 1 human and 1 animal. It had to morph in some fashion, thus its no longer H1N1. Perhaps the viri morphed and only attacks turkeys and cant jump from turkey to human, or pig for that matter. Just food for thought...
Wonder if cranberry sauce will give them cancer?
LOL!
I was just talking with my son about the turkey drop.
H1N1 describes the cell interaction characteristics. The âHâ helps the virus bind to cells before infection (hemagglutinin). The âNâ helps the virus release from the cell (neuraminidase). The species infected makes no difference as these (glycoproteins) remain the same. The H5N1 for instance has a different H configuration which is why it isn’t spread as readily in humans. The initial binding of the virus is less compatible.
I couldn’t do that again to those apostrophes if I tried...

Just call it lab made and forced vaccinations (in sets of three), this fall.
After it was... not so important to close the border, yet a pandemic before.

I believe UK is talking this GB syndrom now in relation to the Swine F
1963 might have been the Schick Test for TB. I got that back in 58/59 in HS and again in 1963 in boot camp.
The Schick test is for diphtheria. The Mantoux test is the skin test for TB.
According to this, it was used for TB also. At the time we were told it was for TB. I never realized it was for diphtheria as well. Thanx

The more I read on this, the more confused I’m getting.
The test I got in HS and again in boot camp might well have been mis-named the Shick test. It consisted of a drop of fluid on the skin followed be a device which produced several (6?) pin pricks that just broke the skin. In HS I got it on the fore arm and in boot camp on the upper arm near my small pox vaccination mark.
I also remember in boot camp getting several injections just below the skin as in the Mantoux test.
Like I said, I’m getting confused as to which was which. Perhaps more coffee will help.
What you are describing is the classic Tine test for TB, not the Schick test. The Mantoux test, which is a single intradermal injection not a series of pricks, replaced the Tine test in the early 60’s and is still the gold standard for detecting prior or occult TB infection.
