I recall kids going to the gym in 1963 to get some kind of shots. Many returned with blood running down their arms. I didn't join that circus. My dad was in the Navy and we got all the shots we needed at the Navy dispensary. A few more than most kids do to the associated travel.

1963 might have been the Schick Test for TB. I got that back in 58/59 in HS and again in 1963 in boot camp.
