Global Warming: What's the climate change scare really about? Not what the alarmists want the public to think. Just ask the retiring head of Greenpeace. In an unguarded moment, he might spill the secret again.
During an Aug. 5 interview with the BBC, Gerd Leipold, outgoing executive director of Greenpeace, admitted that his organization emotionalizes issues to influence the public. At the time, he was admitting his group had made an error in its July 15 news release that claimed "we are looking at ice-free summers in the Arctic as early as 2030." "I don't think (the Greenland ice sheet) will be melting by 2030," he said. "That may have been a mistake."
Or maybe it was one of those examples that Greenpeace embellished to stir fear in the public? If so, it wouldn't be an isolated case. Others have admitted they're willing to bend the truth in order to draw attention to the cause.
Twenty years ago, Stanford University environmentalist Stephen Schneider told Discover magazine that it's perfectly fine "to offer up scary scenarios, make simplified, dramatic statements and make little mention of any doubts we might have. . . . Each of us has to decide what the right balance is between being effective and being honest."
Al Gore noted the power of propaganda when he once told Grist, a magazine for environmentalists, that "it is appropriate to have an overrepresentation of factual presentations on how dangerous it is, as a predicate for opening up the audience."
So why all the distortions about global warming? To save the planet, to save us from ourselves? No. To choke economies in developed nations, particularly the U.S.

A long time ago, I learned that Science was about observation, data and proof, and there was always room for debate. And, the ones using the word 'deniers' should get a new dictionary and look up the word 'consensus'.
Ironically, this kind of Inquisition could stifle the most inquisitive minds.

So, Al, you’re saying it’s OKAY to lie about stuff in order to push YOUR agenda on the masses? You ought to be ashamed and change your name to Goebbels.

How's that for a balance? Ever hear of a little thing called credibility? No? Well, maybe that's because you no longer have any.

Already 20,000 overnight hotel stays that had been reserved for the December United Nations climate summit in Copenhagen have been canceled. Either a lot of people are losing interest or they're thinking it will just be too cold. LOL!

I have been an avid follower of the activity on The Sun for more than 6 years, pretty much daily, as well as looking in detail at raw data from earlier years: sunspot data, 10.7 data, SOHO, STEREO -
I have NEVER seen Sol as quiet, featureless, whatever you wish to label it, as it has been during the past month.I illustrate my point with the following picture, today's "Magnetogram", which reveals the magnetic features on the Sun. Even during the 52-day spotless period last year, I don't recall the magnetogram being as blank as the past week. Usually, there is something or other that is visible even when Sol is spotless. This just looks like a gray plate with a little salt and pepper on it.
About 2 months ago, there were strong thoughts that Sol was waking up and Cycle24 would start to pick up. I considered that likely. The last 2 weeks I have gone from questioning what is going on to seriously concerned about the lack of activity. NOT ONE PERSON ALIVE TODAY has been aware of a period of quietude similar to this current minimum. It is increasingly likely every day that goes by with Sun in such a quiet state, that it is more quiet than it has been in several hundred years. It is NOT understood, but such quiet states have been highly correlated with COLD temperatures on Earth.
Sol SHOULD be ramping up in activity right now, and rapidly. Every solar scientist thinks that ought to be true. If it does not do so very soon, there are going to be a whole load of scientists going back to the drawing board to reconsider the data and the hypotheses.

If it does not do so very soon, What kind of timeframe are we talking with "very soon" -- a couple of months, a year, two years?

My “winter” eczema is almost finally resolved. If Sol keeps snoozin’, I’m afraid my “winter” eczema will become a perennial.

Given the Gramscian takeover of the sciences...
it is interesting to ponder how close the words
"solar scientist"
are
to the word
"socialist".
Cheers!

I really should not have stated that “EVERY solar scientist” expects rapid ramping up.
Livingstone and Penn of the NSO have measured that the magnetic field of sunspots has been decreasing. Since sunspots are a result of magnetic field activity, if this continues sunspots could disappear. However their data does not even go back as far as 1990, so there really isn’t any reasonable expectation of what to expect.

Since global warming involves a belief process, it should be considered a religious doctrine, and as such is forbidden from being the state religion of the federal government.
