A reader points out that President Obama's call with the rabbis today -- as recorded in Rabbi Jack Moline's and other clerics' Twitter feeds -- freights health care reform with a great deal of religious meaning, and veers into the blend of policy and faith that outraged liberals in the last administration.
"We are God's partners in matters of life and death," Obama said, according to Moline (paging Sarah Palin...), quoting from the Rosh Hashanah prayer that says that in the holiday period, it is decided "Who shall live and who shall die."
The president ended the call by wishing the rabbis "shanah tovah," or happy new year -- in reference to the High Holidays a month from now.

There have been four threads started since Wednesday about Obama's hubristic words and I've seen few of your names on any of them, so I thought you ought to alert you to Obama's declaration and so that I might emphasize the significance of his words.
King Nimrod of the Tower of Babel fame was known as a mighty hunter, and was seen to have the power of life and death over all animals. He thus saw himself as God's equal, his partner.
Well, Nimrod had power to reign death anyway.
The legend has it that Nimrod decided to built the tower so that he could see God eye to eye as equals should, and he rallied his people to join him in the great enterprise. God saw that men had not yet learned from their earlier sins in pursuing such ambitions, and decided to confound their language so they would find it difficult to cooperate -- a divine form of checks and balances. In the subsequent confusion, the tower collapsed and many men died, and the survivors dispersed to the four corners of the earth. End legend.
Nimrod in his hubris, affronted God. Thus his reign signifies death. He never could create life; he only could bring death, and that he did.

And Obama has repeatedly put forward that falsehood that his ShamWow Healthcare Product wouldn’t cover abortion.
The Senate HELP committee (Health, Education, Labor and Pensions) in July defeated four pro-life amendments intended to stop the government paying for and promoting abortions.
They voted them all downl on 12-11 party-line votes with only Sen. Bob Casey, of Pennsylvania being the lone Democrat joining Republicans to support the abortion limits.
They defeated an amendment from Sen. Mike Enzi of Wyoming to remove the “abortion mandate” from the health care bill and another from Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah to remove the abortion subsidies.
They also rejected an amendment from Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma to protect state laws limiting abortions and abortion funding from being nullified by federal law under the health care bill and a second that would protect the conscience rights of health care workers.
If you parse it out, the Obama operatives admit that (1) there will be approved insurance plans that will cover abortion, and (2) these plans, these packages, will be subsidized by public funding. Therefore, public funds will be covering abortions.
They know how the Senate HELP Committee voted. They also know the meaning of the word “fungible.”
I guess they assume we don’t.

This man, Obama, will reap what he sows.
On July 17, the House Committee on Ways and Means approved the America’s Health Choices Act (H.R. 3200). In the course of the debate, it considered the
"No funds authorized under this Act (or an amendment made by this Act) may be used to pay for an abortion or to cover any part of the costs of any health plan that includes coverage of abortion, except in the case where a woman suffers from a physical disorder, physical injury, or physical illness that would, as certified by a physician, place the woman in danger of death unless an abortion is performed, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy itself, or unless the pregnancy is the result of an act of forcible rape or incest."
In other words, the amendment barred “government funding of abortion.” It failed: 19 voted for it and 22 voted against it.
Does Obama not know this? Or is he just flat-out lying?
Doe Obama actually think he's on an equal standing with God?
