"And headed for mine. By then it should be Claudette. " Claudette was a song written by Roy Orbinson about his girlfriend and eventually his wife. He sold it to the Everly Brothers who made a hit song out of it.

I just got a weather bulletin in my e-mail a few minutes ago - special weather statement out of the Birmingham NWS office for Claudette. Looks like tomorrow is gonna rock around here. As for Bill, it will turn northwest, become a Cat 5+ superstorm, and take out every snot-nosed liberal elite in Manhattan with a 30-foot storm surge and 180+ MPH winds. How does that grab ya for a dream scenario?

Updated title to reflect upgrade of TD 4 to TS Claudette (sustained winds of 50mph) and TS warnings along the FLA panhandle.

First ping of the 2009 hurricane season. I won't ping out tropical threads unless the circumstances make it imperative. To really keep informed, sign up for NautiNurse's list.

Can anyone tell me what M on the weather map stands for? I thought we were dealing with D=depression,S=storm and H=hurricane, but now I see an M above the H. I do see that in an M situation the wind is above 110.

According to the ‘legend’ on the map graphic you included in your post, the “M” = ‘sustained wind >110 mph...

I’d guess ‘M’ stands for Major hurricane (Cat 3 or above).

Given the fact that a communist POS named Obama was foisted onto the Republic a la the voting masses of places like New York, I won't be crying if something terrible happens to those damn idiots.

You're absolutely right of course, I just thought that maybe the M stood for something else. Living as I do on the Louisiana gulf coast, I've followed the hurricane season weather maps very closely, especially since Katrina. Thank you for your reply.

"Id guess M stands for Major hurricane (Cat 3 or above)."You know, it very well may stand for just that. Why not? It may be a guess, but it makes a certain amount of sense. Thank you for replying.

We had the same weather on the dirty side of Claudette earlier today. Dead calm breeze and stifling humidity.

Just got back from the beach. Ran down to do the usual pre hurrican season cleanup.
Everything is tidy and ready for any “zip on down” trips to tie things down.
Everything has changed since this morning.
I can wish for TDs, TSs and minimal strength Hurricanes for the rest of the season.

Thank-you for this ping list, don't know if I said it before, (but I should have), and it is very much appreciated.
