A plan to open the Federal Reserve to the same scrutiny that almost all other federal government operations endure is overwhelmingly supported by the American people, according to a new poll by Rasmussen Reports. The survey found that 75% of Americans favor auditing the Fed and publicizing the results. The same kind of support can be found in Congress, where members on the left and right who rarely come together are supporting the change.
A House bill by libertarian congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul (R-TX) would give the Government Accountability Office the power to examine the books of the national bank, whose leaders object to the idea, arguing that it would compromise the Feds independence. H.R. 1207 has 281 cosponsors who span the political spectrum from leftist Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) to arch-conservative Michelle Bachmann (R-MN).

This is actually the nicest thing I've ever said about Paul. If I were you I would revel in it.
Sadly, you are absolutely correct, now that I think about it.
Well you're certainly a pleasant guy....
You see, Ron Paul actually wants the USA to follow the Constitution as it was written, so he’s a POS. ??????
Bernanke’s answers were not anything that would inspire any confidence. He literally could not answer either of these questions.
This is an out of control entity, period.
LOL - Great commentary on the attention span of too many in America today. The Pols depend upon it and they are never disappointed.

“I saw a clip of Bernanke being questioned “
That’s a GREAT clip! Everybody should see it! A Florida dem, laughing at Bernanke. It’s GREAT! And now I can’t find the durn thing,,,,,
Please find it. It was both hilarious and terrifying to see how little this man knew about what he was doing and what he was allowed, under the law, to do without ANY prior review or approval.
The Rep who was questioning him was excellent - He was a Dem?
Yes, we see how badly it compromises the independence of all publicly traded companies. /sarc
Ping
My my you do like those question marks don't you?
First of all I was the one who called "Doctor Paul" a POS, not GoldStandard. So if you're going to refer to my statement you need to give me a courtesy ping.
Secondly it's easy to claim I and the FReepers who don't like "Doctor Paul" do so because he "only wants to follow the Constitution". I guess it's a lot easier to claim that than to deal with his past history of anti-Israeli sentiment, of being glad that the Democrats were the controlling majority and of being a 9/11 truther. All things that of course have something to do with "following the Constitution".
If you care so much about Israel, then go over there and join their Army and fight for them.
Perfect. Thanks much. This should be a separate thread. It is truly frightening!
I said “Perfect. Thanks much. This should be a separate thread. It is truly frightening!”
Hang on to your hatred...it is all you have.
The Israelis do a pretty good job of fighting for themselves thank you. However I am fighting for them. I'm doing it by pointing out that Ron Paul has a long history of anti-Israeli sentiment. I'm doing it that pointing out that you are a dirtbag.
Israel wouldn’t last 2 years with out our money and support.
