Common DNA Sequences: Evidence of Evolution or Efficient Design? (apoptosis section fascinating!)
Acts & Facts ^ | August 2009 | Jeffrey Tomkins, Ph.D.

Posted on 08/01/2009 7:57:05 AM PDT by GodGunsGuts

With the advent of modern biotechnology, researchers have been able to determine the actual sequence of the roughly three billion bases of DNA (A,T,C,G) that make up the human genome. They have sequenced the genomes of many other types of creatures as well. Scientists have tried to use this new DNA data to find similarities in the DNA sequences of creatures that are supposedly related through evolutionary descent, but do genetic similarities provide evidence for evolution?...

The clowns have entered- tryign to divert attention away fro the science, and into a phd pissing match- Funny, accordign to some science evasion specialists on htis thread, apparently people need phd’s in order to notice cells between fingers are DESIGNED to dissappear- I guess all they have left to throw are spitwads- As if attackign someone’s credentials magically makes the Darwin damning evidence dissappear- Shallow ‘voctory’ indeed for the macreovos intent on AVOIDING discussing the issues.

Unlike the geneticists-turned-basketweavers in the Temple of Darwin cult, he is a geneticist who actually practices genetics.

Your statement is non sequitor. Nonetheless, do you have a source for it?

The real question is why you’re here if this thread is not to your tastes and why you make your pointless comments.

Simple questions but if you need explanation, say so.

Whatever happened to the notion that the same protein (or amino acid) can be coded in more than one way.? If there are multiple, equally equivalent ways to code an amino acid, then there should be some meaning ascribed to the fact that several presumably related species code the same way, when alternatives would generate the same result.

I'm unimpressed by the linked article because it seems to be saying that "it's just too complicated" to be explained by other than the work of a creator.

Not at all, it’s true. The greatest number of suicide bombers come from the revolutionary wing of the Temple of Darwin. Ever hear of the Tamil Tigers? They are Marxist-Leninist, and they lead the world in suicide bombings.

Also, you might be surprised to find that the majority of Hezbollah suicide bombers are actually volunteers from secular socialist and communist groups. You can add those to the hundreds of millions who were murdered by revolutionary evolutionists in the Soviet Union, Red China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Cuba, etc, etc.

Nope, but then again, I don't fancy myself a dog who barks at my neighbor’s trees either.

It’s the same ole same ole...GGG posts articles, scientific articles and the libs come on and start making these comments, whine about not seeing the science normal people plainly see, then project-alot, then whine and cry when their behavior is exposed and then laughably THEY call for more civility!

Literally, anything it takes to protect their cult by moving away fom the article’s observations, scientific details and so on...ad-infinatum. As long as there’s their incessant sniping and so on, they don’t have to engage in the dismantling of their cult.

It’s never ever been about the science, it’s ALWAYS been about their ideology and tight control of the gubmint run NEA liberal secualr humanist science curricula.

Actually, I think you have it backwars. The same sequences can result in many different kinds of proteins. Not only that, we now know that genes are not the beads on a string sequences that the geneticists once supposed them to be. DNA is read forward and backward, on the sense and anti-sense strands, and even between multiple chormosomes and then spliced together. It is obvious that it is the cell controlling this process, and not the genes themselves. If you interested, I have some fascinating (creationist) links on the subject—GGG

Therein lies the fault in your argument, the presumption of relatedness. And yes, there should be meaning in the fact that some parts of codes of different animals are the same.

They face many of the same conditions in life.

He has a PhD in Genetics from Clemson (1996) and is an assistant professor. I have not found any research of his - only paper research reviews of other people’s work.

"Not at all, it’s true. The greatest number of suicide bombers come from the revolutionary wing of the Temple of Darwin. Ever hear of the Tamil Tigers? They are Marxist-Leninist, and they lead the world in suicide bombings."

It's still a non sequitor. There is no "Temple of Darwin" except the one that exists in your own mind.

Do you seriously believe that the hundreds of thousands of biologists, astronomers, and physicists who belong to your imaginary "Temple" have anything to do with Hezbollah or the Tamil Tigers?

Or is it as I suspect? That your "Temple of Darwin" (including its nonexistent revolutionary wing) is nothing more than a literary device you use to equate the theory of evolution with your own religiously derived beliefs?

As with most ICR articles the author relies on over simplifications.

Please refer to this site for a comparison of phenotype in embryogenesis 2,445 with 6,797 annotations complete with references. Please analyze them and give us your comparative study showing how thousands of geneticists are wrong.

GodGunsGuts said: "Actually, I think you have it backwards. "

Here's a link which suggests that I don't have it backwards:

The table in the section titled "Degeneracy of the Amino Acid Code" suggests that there are only two amino acids which have unique codons. The others have multiple codings.

My question is whether the genetic information for presumably related species shows a tendency for identical proteins to be coded identically, despite the fact that there would be multiple codings possible.

This is what they do....they attack, project-alot and then claim there’s no science.

Pitiful actually.

So you are saying that the fact that two species “face many of the same conditions in life” can result in modifying their DNA so that it becomes more similar? Even in cases where the non-similarity would already code for the same protein?
