'Birthers' must be stopped

Never underestimate the ability of a tiny fringe group of losers to ruin everything.

For the last couple of weeks, we've all been laughing heartily at the wacky antics of the "birthers" -- the far-right goofballs who claim Barack Obama wasn't really born in Hawaii and therefore the job of president goes to the runner-up, former Miss California Carrie Prejean.

Also, when Obama was sworn in as president, he forgot to give his answer in the form of a question.

And yet, every week, the chorus of conservatives demanding to see his birth certificate grows. It's like they're the Cambridge police, Obama's in his house -- the White House -- and they need to see some ID.

And there's nothing anyone can do to convince these folks. You could hand them, in person, the original birth certificate and have a video of Obama emerging from the womb with Don Ho singing in the background ... and they still wouldn't believe it.

Which raises the question: Why, in this country, is it always the religious right that won't take anything on faith?

So far, the reaction from Democrats is to laugh this off, and I understand why. If you seriously believe that President Obama is an African sleeper spy, get out of your chat room and have your house tested for lead.

Oh no, a panicky Mr. Bill dehumanizes "birthers" but at least he is now admitting Obama never released his birth certificate. Previously Maher misled his audience by claiming Obama had fully disclosed his documents like all previous presidents and candidates.

My thoughts exactly... His humor seems strained, and not entirely genuine...but that just may be Maher. Still, I see cracks behind his wisecracks...a bit like whenever he talks scoffingly about God.

Look at this, "You could hand them, in person, the original birth certificate..." That's interesting--as he didn't repeat the false mainstream mantra that the original was produced long ago...

Also this sentence, which is weird for Maher: "Why, in this country, is it always the religious right that won't take anything on faith?"

I thought Maher didn't take a THING on faith (except that to take anything on faith is evil), but apparently he does--as he says here, that is that Obama is natural born.

Oddly, I agree with Bill Maher on this one. I too feel that Carrie Prejean would make a much better President than Obama (or Biden).

That said, what gives with the BC Deniers??? If we are all kooks, nutz, misguided, cranks, why do multiple Leftie writers, bloggers and Obama apologists feel the ‘need’ to address us? Just let us wither on the vine would be the realistic approach. But, IMO...using my ‘mom skills’ they know something isn’t right about the Messiah. Hey guys, did a US soldier not quickly have his orders to Afghanistan changed when he brought about legal action with respect to this issue?

One of the first guys to make a great public fuss about this was a Democrat lawyer from Pennsylvania.

Does this not resemble Kerry's revealing his full military records? Are you not still waiting for this to happen?

Why did Obama hide all his University transcripts and pertinent data? The MSM press can paint this matter in any way that they want it's still not coming up smelling good. Look where I'm from. Maher, you just slipped up buddy. So eager to get in a slap at “the religious right,” you overlooked the fact that your comment is directly contradictory to your thesis.

You say birthers are nuts, loony, etc. But the above quote reveals that you in fact believe their position regarding Obama’s alleged and hidden birth certificate results from a lack of faith, not insanity.

Thanks for proving you (and all the rest of the lunatic anti-birthers) don’t really think this is a test of sanity but a test of faith in Obama. You have hereby forfeited your right to comment further on it.
