Several readers have written over the past few days taking us to task for dismissing so-called birthers as lunatics without bothering to refute their claims. We reluctantly concede their point. The birthers have managed to sow confusion in the minds of some who are not lunatics, and for the latter groups benefit it is worth clarifying matters.

Since the Constitution was mentioned...
Yes, there is a Constitution and here is what it says, in regards to qualifications. The Constitution says that a candidate must be the following in order to qualify for the office. The candidate must ...
*be* 35 years or older
*be* a resident 14 years or more
*be* a natural born citizen
And Obama has sworn under oath that he *is* (as the Constitution says he must *be*)...
It does not say what is necessary to show it, prove it or what any means for vetting is. Thats up to the states themselves to vet and make sure that the candidates meet the qualifications.
And what they have done is sworn an oath that they are qualified..., Obama has, the other candidates have and they have in the past...
And in addition the State of Hawaii says that he *is* exactly what the Constitution says he must *be*...

I, Dr. Chiyome Fukino, Director of the Hawaii State Department of Health, have seen the original vital records maintained on file by the Hawaii State Department of Health verifying Barack Hussein Obama was born in Hawaii and is a natural-born American citizen. I have nothing further to add to this statement or my original statement issued in October 2008 over eight months ago.
This shows that there is no Constitutional issue or question. So, when there is no Constitutional issue at problem here with the Qualifications for office, why would the Supreme Court get involved? Which is why they didnt get involved.
But, there is plenty of political issues to deal with, in terms of conservatives opposing Marxist/liberal/leftist policies, legislation and agendas.
I guess you should explain why my suggestion is "nutty" or ask the moderator to remove your comment. I do not appreciate your comment.

I think this birther thing is an astoundingly foolish waste of time.
From where I sit this, like almost all conspiracy theories, serves mainly as a vehicle for certain people to stroke their own egos and tell themselves that they are among the select few who have figured it all out. That makes them special and important in their own eyes.
As for errors in the article. I saw some too. That's beside the point. If you distill everything down in this BC mess, the best that there is might be the possibility that having a resident alien for a father might prevent a person from being a “natural born citizen’ under the US Constitution. Good luck getting a judge to rule that and Congress to impeach the President over that.
In the meantime, this issue is increasingly becoming an embarrassment to the Conservative movement.
If someone wants to stop the economic, cultural and economic train from going off the cliff, they need to fight and win a war of ideas, specifically why conservative ideas are better than leftist ideas.
Pissing and whining about how a President, who wouldn't take the time to spit on their shoes, isn't catering to their desire to see more of his life's history isn't going to accomplish any of that.
Obama is not a Natural Born Citizen.
What do you think about that? I know you don’t like it but it is what it is. LOL
Well..., don’t be asking questions like — “How does that grab you, Pal?” — unless you expect to get answers back... LOL...
Obama’s long form BC is a political prisoner.
I kinda think O may just be completely unnatural
but thats ok ...to each his own
I’ve had enough laughs for the day... thanks...
You said — That surely doesn’t make them “fruitcakes”, does it?
—
No, not at all. Some birthers are nut-bats...
I remember when my grandpa back in the ‘80’s was all concerned that the UN was setting up concentrations camps across the country with the help of Reagan to prepare for the one-world government. These birthers remind me of him.
“the economic, cultural and economic train “
That should have read: “the social, cultural and economic train...”
Ah well.
The strategy change is ‘addressing’ the birther movement in the MSM instead of ignoring it.
The new tactics are the arguments being adopted. I have seen these new arguments cropping up all over the us and foreign press all at the same time. Coincidence? I think not.
The conclusion: while the birther movement is grass roots in nature, the anti-birther movement is being centrally directed with strategy and talking points being distributed to the troops in a coordinated manner.
Two things. Crazies are crazy, but normal people are starting to pick up on the O's stubborn refusal to do what seems very simple, and they are wondering why. Thats a problem, and he's got to do what he's apparently doing, trying to make people embarrassed to be considered a "birther". I'm too old to care what people I don't know call me, so it doesn't work with me.
And, you have to understand that the proliferation of theories about what lies behind the blanked out information is a natural result of the information being blanked out. Its natural for people to theorize what has been censored when they see the information withheld.
Its not crazy to theorize, its the most normal thing in the world. I've got several theories as to what it is he doesn't want divulged and why. The truth may not be any of them, once the truth comes out finally. Having several theories isn't crazy, at least in my biased opinion. I'm just waiting for the docs to be released, and then I'll settle up my bets with myself.
But remember, its not just the birth certificate, its also the question, what citizenship did you claim in college.
You may be right, especially with the Democrats in control of congress none of this is going to result in his impeachment or removal. None of this is a magic bullet.
But people have the right to know. At the very least, we have the right to ask. He has the right to refuse to answer, and to send out his flacks to mock anyone asking. But his continued refusal speaks volumes.
Very perceptive.
I have come to the same conclusion.
The leftists are very worried that the truth may surface.
The left calls us lunatics and nut-jobs while at the same time, Obama spends over a million dollars in legal fees to keep his birth certificate hidden. I’ll take our side!
How does posting an article that seems to ignore the main point “prove” that all Freepers “are not fruitcakes?”
While you’re running through these details, the majority of the conservatives in the GOP are *running for the exit doors* — on this issue... LOL...
