Dear MoveOn member,
Why is CNN promoting right-wing paranoid conspiracy theories about President Obama's birth certificate?
The fringe ideas of the so-called "birthers" have been thoroughly debunked.1 But CNN host Lou Dobbs perpetuates these myths by constantly talking about them on his shows and asserting that Obama still needs to "produce a birth certificate."
This is not responsible journalism. Our friends at Media Matters have launched a campaign calling on CNN to address its Lou Dobbs problembut a lot of us are going to have to speak out in order to get CNN's attention. Clicking here will add your name to their petition:
http://civ.moveon.org/stopdobbs/o.pl?id=16683-3642389-BTxzaSx&t=3
The petition reads:
Dobbs' relentless promotion of outlandish conspiracy theories about President Barack Obama's birth certificate seriously damages CNN's credibility. It is time for "The Most Trusted Name in News" to prove it deserves viewers' trust. We the undersigned demand CNN address its Lou Dobbs problem in a credible manner. Numerous reporters, including CNN's own hosts, have debunked the idea that Obama wasn't really born in the U.S.2
Nevertheless, Dobbs has repeatedly claimed on both his television and radio shows that the birth certificate the president posted online more than a year ago has "some issues"3and lashed out at "lily-livered lefties" who criticized him.
CNN's reputation is on the line. Their president, Jon Klein, has admitted that anyone who "is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef"but he has refused to correct the situation.4
CNN needs to hear that allowing Dobbs' to promote "birther" conspiracy theories is simply irresponsible. Please sign the petition by clicking here:

Thank you for your help in holding CNN accountable.

When one remembers all the nonsensical hate campaigns against Bush/Cheney, showing a valid birth certificate is a reasonable and lawful request...unless one has something to hide.
It doesn’t matter. It’s not as if anyone is watching Cnn anyway.
MoveOn.org talking about “responsible journalism!” now THAT”S funny!!
lol, the resemblance to my BC is uncanny...
Yea...and so is Obama's bowling skills...
“The BC issue has legs because EVERYONE can understand the need to produce one when asked (by an employer; a school district; a sports league). We (the little people) routinely have to ID ourselves...why cant he? Its so simple.”
This comment truly sums it up. Everyone can understand producing a B.C. when asked - why can’t he?
Has any more come out since yesterday’s post by mindbender on multiple suits and/or a class action by our military?
His post essentially laid out that the turning point was the gov’t rescinding Cook’s orders and it caused a fire storm across the US on our bases an by attorneys.
Dear Moveon:
1) What evidence do you have that Obama is a citizen?
2) If you point to the COLB Obama placed online (according to his attorney) what do you say about the fact Hawaii specifies the COLB does not provide conclusive evidence of citizenship?
3) In your opinion, by what means can Obama demonstrate conclusively that he is U.S. citizen?
I heard a rumor that Jim Thompson has secretly taken control of CNN.

If its not one thing its another
It was OK to be a “birther” when it was the left questioning McCain’s “Natural Born Citizenship” status because of his Canal Zone birth. It wasn’t even really questioned when DEMOCRAT, Hillary Clinton supporter, Phil Berg started the Obama Birther movement. It is now only making headlines when they want to take the focus of our side’s comments away from the health care debate arguments. Notice they all have pretty much ignored the Birthers until the health care SHTF.
Wait a second here.
I thought that this was a red herring and that it’s only hurting the conservative movement...or so I’ve been told over at HotAir.com and RedState.com.
If so...then why would MoveOn.org intervene while the conservative movement is supposedly imploding? I heard a famous axiom that goes something like this...when your enemy is committing suicide, don’t interfere.
So why not allow Lou Dobbs to help cause irreparable harm to conservatism?
Why intervene unless of course, there really is something damaging you’re helping hide.
CNN is trying to connect the Birthers with Conservatives and Republicans in an effort to make all look like crazy people.
Responsible as in uncovering the unalterable, salient facts? Heck no. Moveon means responsible as in weaving the right fairy tale.
Dear Moveon,
What is your boy hiding?
Why aren’t you curious?
LOL!
