The revolt is only a matter of time.

Then way hasn't it happened in Detroit?

Your reply is good, but there are some problems. I agree with your intentions, but "Let the parasites leave..." isn't going to happen. The parasites are outbreeding the host.

Isn't there a contradiction in the laudable statement, "I’M not going anywhere; this is my country," and your description of moving far away from North Philly? Where will you go when all the cities turn into Detroit and the Tom-Joad-Californians destroy the west in a mass exodus?

Does Detroit have a new airport?

Yes. It has had the "new" McNamara terminal for, what, 10 years? Then, late last year, they opened the converted international terminal and quit using the horrible terminal you're thinking of.

Exactly.

I asked my father about it and showed him some of the HP photos I found on the web. He commented on the architecture of the buildings and said much the same. He went to the University of Detroit High School with his brother, and they remember the wave of change (and hope) that destroyed Detroit.

The new terminal is nice, but the train is horridly loud.
The good part is you don’t really have to go to DETROIT-Detroit to use it.

“...”Let the parasites leave...”

Rhetorical. I know it won’t happen. Venting.

“...Where will you go...”

We’ll cross that bridge when it comes.

Thanks for that - don’t keep up with the Detroit scene unless the mayor gets thrown into jail. Nice airport regardless...

Well, that’s good to hear they got rid of that dungeon and now have a nice airport.

I disagree that it began with Young. Just like with our fed gov now, Young was a symptom of a bigger problem called unions. I can remember a time before Young when the teachers walked out on strike, or threatened to do so, almost annually. And that was just the teachers.

Please don’t get me wrong—I’m not defending that execrable city. Heck, to get to the airport, you have to drive over pegboard roads—although there is a lot of construction. “Public”, i.e., taxpayer supported, jobs are about all that’s left.
