'Israeli Strike On Iran To Have Destabilising Results'
Zee News ^ | July 20, 2009

JERUSALEM - A senior US defence official has warned that an Israeli strike on Iran could have profoundly destabilising consequences, and would directly affect US interests.

"A unilateral third-party attack on Iran's nuclear program could have profoundly destabilising consequences, and it wouldn't just affect the general level of stability in the region. It would affect Israel's security and it would affect our interests, and the safety of our forces in Afghanistan and Iraq and elsewhere," The Jerusalem Post quoted him, as saying.

"It's a pretty big deal, and given the closeness of our relationship with Israel, I think we would hope that they would take those strategic calculations into account," he added.

—but of course, in the thinking of the Obobo malAdministration, an attack by Ahmeininutjob on Israel ( as he has promised) would cause little disruption at all—it would just put a stop to the oppression of those two hundred million Arabs by those three million Israelis—(sarc)

What close relationship? Obama has made it clear that he will sacrifice Israel's interests in favor of the Iranians, the Palestinians, the Syrians and any other non-Jewish player. He is just a little smoother than Jeremiah Wright, but the intention is the same.

...and it would affect our interests...

If understand this correctly, he's saying that an Iran nuclear program is one of our "interests"?

Traitor and idiot alert!

Isn’t that the idea of a preemptive strike? To destabilize the situation so as to prevent the enemy’s attack.

A nuclear hit by Iran would be greeted by cheers by the Muslims of the world....”Kill the Christians and Jews” has been their motto since they began.

I think what he’s referring to is the effect it would have when Iran shuts down the straits of Hormuz, shuts in its own production from the West, and attacks Iraq when it’s most vulnerable effectively shutting down it’s oil production.

It’s a fun filled scenario all the way round and sets up a great play in the oil stocks. Nothing beats profiting from the misery of others.

Iran wants the world to think that it has the power to shut down oil transport. It does, but the other side is that any such action would be short-lived. They have absolutely NO ability to do anything with their oil other than ship it out. If they mess with the Straits then we will shut down their import of refined petroleum products. They need gas to keep their society afloat and they are totally dependent on the free flow of into their country.

They are probably crazy enough to act without regard to their own best interests but even that would be self-limiting in that as soon as they were shut down by the lack of energy it would be relatively simple to move and and handle them.

In reality, a worldwide true oil, energy, crisis might serve to wake up a lot of people. We've never seen a true such scenario. Even during the infamous embargo of the 70’s the supply was only cut by about 10 percent.

Every day we placate the rest of the world and fail to come to terms with our energy problems the chances increase that we will have to deal with it when we are no longer in control. We have pissed away forty years of being in the driver's seat, not completely, but a lot more so than we will be when Iran shuts down the supply of oil from that region.
