St. Paul, Minn. Minnesota Congressman Keith Ellison said the U.S. government is trying to ensure the safe return of some of the young Somali-American men believed to be fighting with a terrorist group in their homeland.
Ellison said he has been included in classified briefings about efforts to bring the missing men back to the Twin Cities.
At least four Somali-American men from Minnesota who left to fight in the Horn of Africa have died there in recent months.
One of youngest, a skinny teenager from Minneapolis named Burhan Hassan, was trying to leave the fighting and make his way to the U.S. embassy in neighboring Kenya, according to family members. They believe a fellow member of the extremist group Al-Shabaab shot Hassan to death when the group learned of his plans to escape.

I don’t know why Minnesota, in the heart of the midwest is such a radical, nutty state, but that would probably be at the very bottom of my list of states I would ever live in. Franken? Are you effing kidding me?
“Who arranged the flight, the money, the food etc.?”
These fellers......
Can't US Embassy people shoot terrorists on sight?
Not just in Minnesota, but they have been outed there now.
We need to have the authorities syncronize their watches and at the same time across the country go into each and every mosque and retrieve the weapons and training materials found in them.
I think you are abosolutely right in referring to Obama’s party as being Demoncrats! Right ON!
Anyhow, why should anybody except a Muslim creep like Ellison want this bastard back alive? All he'll do is someday jihad here in America - which, come to think of it, is probably why Ellison and Obama's government want him back safe and sound. He'd fit right in to Obama's Civilian Defense Corps.
Hopefully, the little pr!ck is dead. It will save American lives here if he's gone for good and will save somebody the touble of catching him and putting a bullet through the little @ssh0le's head after he someday causes bloody mayhem on real Americans.
Good riddance if he is dead.
(I know, I know. I'm an insensitive racist who badly needs some remedial multi-cultural sensitivity training!)
“Ellison said he has been included in classified briefings...”
THIS is a bad idea.
too bad for MN.... they shouldn’t have elected a Muslim.... don’t feel sorry for them. The conservatives should have gotten out and voted....
Come up to Minnesota.
Some days you’d think it’s been colonized by Somalis.
Take a cab for transportation...
Or go to the Mall of Somalia, er, the Mall of America.
They’re black, that’s why. They’re also gen-u-wine African-Americans born in Africa, the real deal. We have an African-born president. It stands to reason that he wants more of his own kind here.
If they are returned, they will not be prosecuted. If a prosecution is started, it will be for show. The Department of Justice, run by U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, will then determine there is not enough evidence to sustain the charges and have the case dismissed.
Get used to it or do something about it.
Odd that somebody, anybody, would be killed in a peaceful place like Mogadishu, given the fine job Bubba and the UN did in bringing peace to the region in the 90’s.
Prince would make a better senator than Al Franken. Little Red Corvette.

WASHINGTON POST.com (AP): Minneapolis - "MINN. GRAND JURY INDICTS 2 IN MISSING SOMALIS CASE" by Amy Forliti (SNIPPET: "At least one of the men, Salah Osman Ahmed, traveled to Somalia to fight with Islamic militants, according to the indictment returned Feb. 19 but not unsealed until Monday. Ahmed and Abdifatah Yusuf Isse both are charged with providing material support to terrorists and conspiracy to kill, kidnap, maim and injure. Ahmed also is charged with lying to investigators.") Bring them back feet first in boxes!
While I agree with you about the mistake in not declaring war on al-Qaeda, treason is almost impossible to prove. That's why there has been less than a dozen people that have actually been convicted of Treason in more than 230 years. I think (although I could be mistaken), that there hasn't even been 50 prosecutions for treason in the history of the country.
I do believe that Adam Yahiye Gadahn, the young Californian man who's made several al-Qaeda video, has been indicted on the charge of treason. I would suspect, given his video testimony, that a conviction would be likely if he's ever apprehended.
That's not accurate. Elected representatives and senators have the same exposure under laws like the Espionage Act, or hte Intelligence Identification Act and countless others, as their staffers do. The classification of information and the dissemination of that classified information is a responsibility that lies solely with the Executive branch.
Just like judge on the FISA court could be prosecuted for violating intelligence protection laws, so could all elected officials in the legislative branch if they did likewise.
