The correct solution IMHO would have been to pull the original thread as soon as it was spotted, and to have issued a “Jim Robinson” statement, explaining this is NOT FR acceptable. Case would have been closed on the spot.
By going off on this big “Chris Parry” witch hunt, you are stirring the pot in front of a vast internet community: parts of which are openly hostile to us - and inviting them to hold us up to further scorn. It’s about like throwing another cup of detergent into the washer because some of the suds have spilled over onto the floor.

Very good point. Another point. When I am on a thread and see someone calling names and acting like a jerk, I usually just ignore that person under the theory that the more you stir doo-doo, the more it stinks. I think there is a Latin term for that like “manurum stinkorum”, but I am not sure.
On the thread in question, there were some gross comments, but I think a lot of freepers do like I do and avoid the adolescent crap. While they are busy being being jerks, the rest of us are engaged in weighty discussions on other threads.
Whether or not the admin should have pulled the thread is a legitimate question, IMHO. But then to take one person’s decision and impugn an entire site is taking it a bit far.
I suggest that you spend more time here on the good threads, and that if you do just hang around to troll, fish in some of the better holes.
