No wonder skeptics consider the left's belief in man-made global warming as akin to a fad religion — last week in Italy, G8 leaders pledged to not allow the Earth's temperature to rise more than 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
For its next act, the G8 can part the Red Sea. The worst part is: These are the brainy swells who think of themselves as — all bow — Men of Science.
The funny part is: G8 leaders can't even decide the year from which emissions must be reduced. 1990? 2005? "This question is a mystery for everyone," an aide to Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said.
And while President Obama led the charge for the G8 nations to agree to an 80 percent reduction in greenhouse gas emissions in industrial nations by 2050, the same Russian aide dissed the standard as "likely unattainable."
No worries, the language was non-binding. Global-warming believers say that they are all about science, but their emphasis is not on results so much as declarations of belief.
Faith. Mystery. Promises to engage in pious acts. Global warming is a religion. While Obama was in Italy preaching big cuts in U.S. greenhouse gas emissions, he was losing some of his flock in Washington. The House may have passed the 1,200-page cap-and-trade bill largely unread, but Senate Democrats are combing the fine print and not liking what they see. As Sen. Claire McCaskill, D-Mo., said of the bill, "We need to be a leader in the world but we don't want to be a sucker."
Republicans who oppose the legislation are positively gleeful. For some issues, it can be more fun being part of the opposition, as Democrats are discovering.

If I remember correctly, if Cap and Trade is enacted, it doesn’t go into effect until 2012.
Nobody will feel the real effects until after the 2012 elections.
How convenient.
The DemonRATs are always thinking ahead.
When I mention this to the libs, they say, "It's GLOBAL warming, not LOCAL warming."
Or is it "climate change"? I can't keep track of their talking points any longer. Nor can they.

Then the first thing for Sarah to do is to get rid of it and we have to remind the voters that the cap and tax is a Dem bill and it is the Dems who want to raise their bills at a time too when people are losing their jobs, losing money , losing house etc.
That’s probably 20 degrees cooler than it should be this time of year at that time of day.
down here our last winter was much worse than usual.
As I came on here I have just saw that some have died out in Peru because of the extreme cold.
notice how the media never cover those teams which go to the pole to research global warming and yet get turned back to colder weather than usual.

she has not even fitted her A/C yet and even some mornings she still puts the heat on
Watch for that to be the next bumper sticker, beside the "Kerry/Edwards" and "Obama" ones on their cars, especially if this upcoming winter is particularly harsh.
“GLOBAL not LOCAL”
Well, then, why has there been a GLOBAL AVERAGE .7 degree DROP in GLOBAL temperatures in the last 12 years?
I’m sure you’ll get a response like “the drop is actually an indicator of global warming” or some such.
The question would be, then, what evidence would you accept that would indicate that global warming was NOT happening, much less, that man isn’t and couldn’t cause it?
The earth has been around for 4.6 billion years! Mankind has been on the earth for 200,000 years. If the earth wants to shrug us off like fleas (George Carlin quote) than it will do just that and no amount of cap and trade will stop it.
The earth was Created by Someone who can see the end from the beginning. It was put in the exact right spot with innumerable requirements necessary for life to exist.
I’m sure it is such a highly buffered system that we could not “destroy” it if we tried, nor make it uninhabitable.
I’m in the far southern part of the state about 30 miles east of Ann Arbor.

The left are now trying to change the term global warming I heard.
Thankfully more and mroe folks are waking up and realising that the earth warming at a huge rate is just crock.
Amazing how the left have no brains and are like sheep who just follow blindly behind their leaders.

They all have the same goal,
not letting someone else live an “unapproved” lifestyle.
They are willing to use whatever vehicle presents itself in order to attain the power to control others.
Do an end-run around them. Ask them to specifically define local, then hit them in the head with the definition while explaining that an entire continent being cooler than normal isn't "local."
