Bill O'Reilly has called Free Republic a hate site and he may now have some ammunition to back up that assertion.
"A typical street whore." "A bunch of ghetto thugs." "Ghetto street trash." "Wonder when she will get her first abortion."At a time when the administration is seeking any reason to squelch any speech it deems "hate", as well as the entities where that speech may be found, what the hell were these people thinking?These are a small selection of some of the racially-charged comments posted to the conservative 'Free Republic' blog Thursday, aimed at U.S. President Barack Obama's 11-year-old daughter Malia after she was photographed wearing a t-shirt with a peace sign on the front.
The thread was accompanied by a photo of Michelle Obama speaking to Malia that featured the caption, "To entertain her daughter, Michelle Obama loves to make monkey sounds."

Because he is an agent for the kids, so he needs to be someone the kids will appear comfortable with and blend in more with the crowd they will be around. What he was wearing wasn’t ‘thuggish’, it seems like normal wear for youth of all races and socioeconomically backgrounds. I recall the secret service agents for the Bush daughters always wore jeans and t-shirts except when at formal events.
Are you serious? There is no way on earth that that was HER decision to wear a "peace" symbol shirt. It was obviously something her parents or Obama's left-wing advisers came up with. The "peace" movement has been the child of the commie left for decades. And what was it Obama was doing there? Working out a deal with the Russians on "nuclear disarmament"!

I gave up on O’Reilly after realizing he is nothing more than an overly-opinionated ignoramus with no knowledge of economics. It’s a shame, but that’s all he is.
John Stossel is not an ignoramus, and he does understand economics. If you’re sick of O’Reilly I recommend him, even though his employer is ABC!

I suffered racism as a child, I know what it’s all about. FR is not even slightly Racist. Does that mean that screwballs from DU or Kos don’t come here posing as FReepers only to pop off onto racist crap oh yes it happens, often. And they get banned, rightly so. Where the line gets drawn is when a REPORTER posing as a neutral credible source plants this crap, posts it at Kos and then reports it as if he didn’t have anything to do with it. Thats pure 100% BS.
That is the fault of the idiots posting that crap, NOT Free Republic, which has the RIGHT to remove posts and articles it considers as offensive. It’s policies are clearly statedd, and absolutely fair. If people don’t like those policies, they are free to just read or not, and or go to another site to post on.

Racism should not be tolerated, either from the form where someone practices racism against another or some “victim” of racism tries to get something for it. Both are using racism to further their own ends and BOTH are wrong. I can speak with authority on this, I have suffered it, and never have I asked anything for it, I rose above it and did my thing and succeeded.

And they were the ones who publicized and remarked on these photos of the poorly, er, politically dressed first family representing America to the world at the G8 Summit. Have no idea what their agenda is.

I should clarify in my last post, I don’t know he is a secret service agent, it just was my guess based on his proximity and age, take away the youth styled clothing and he seems to be a pretty fit, military style young man, much older than a kid would normally hang with.
Yes. I can usually distinguish between the two, but Bob Parks is correct in that there will be others out there who will not be so circumspect.
We have seen how they operate, and if we think they will practice forbearance simply because we say these people are not representative of the site, we are mistaken.
The point, is, the distinction between a liberal plant and a regular freeper is a luxury we have amongst ourselves. They (liberal blogs and the media) can and will report this as business as usual, and that is all anyone will hear.
If we don’t police ourselves and rid ourselves of people regardless of who they are, we will allow them to marginalize us. It is the way they operate.

Well, the author does appear homophobic based on his twitter where he said his kids need therapy because his daughter played with trucks and his son liked to cook. Typical projection.
Hey bob! I have been a fan of your writings for some time now. I have seen racial slurs on FR, but in each case, others take the posters to task, and most of the posts get pulled. I know, because I have been a FR addict for many years, and I have blasted the racial slurs, as well as saying that kids of politicians should be OFF LIMITS.
Thats why that thread is suspicious, mostly noobs posting the vile stuff, and I am virtually CERTAIN that there are still trolls on here trying to make FR look bad. One got booted just a few hours ago (ProudPalinSoldier, I called them out this afternoon and others must have hit the abuse button to alert the mods).I think the trolls here are kind of obvious, with their over-the-top verbal diarrhea.
I also have no doubt that there are some FR "regulars" that sometimes post vile crap like that, but thats how it is in every group. Its a damn shame these IDIOTS make the 99% of us look bad.
If any "real" Freepers actually said anything like that, they should man up and admit it, and publicly apologize, and then submit themselves to the judgement of their peers. Probably wont happen, because its too easy to hide, but such is the nature of the internet.
We've been around here about the same amount of time, and we both know that, as a general rule, racism is not tolerated on FR. (More leeway is given on certain threads, such as Cincinatti race riot threads). It won't get folks bounced as fast as anti-semitic comments, but it will get folks bounced.
While I sometimes disagree with the mods, the do a good job of policing the threads. If you see something that you think is out of line, hit the abuse button. If the mods disagree, then perhaps you are being too sensitive. And how many of the comments were posted by trolls?
As far as injecting race into the debate, Obama has opened the door on that subject, with comments like '...the blood of Africa in my veins."
Of course, I'm just a Cracker, so what do I know about racial slurs.

Mature grownups can see this and move past it. Besides, whatever happened to free speech? Oh that's right, silly me. Free speech means you have to call Bush a chimp or Hitler. Anything else is a hate crime.
In that situation, I would have plenty to say, regardless if she was my neighbor, the president's daughter, or what ever was the color of her skin.
The potus's daughters should be respected, provided they do not get in my face, dancing the rumba down the street.
At that point, it no longer would matter. I would say screw em, all of them, the whole damn family.

You know you are right, more is expected from us because we are not suppose to be looking up from the gutter. Our perspective should be one that believes in the inner worth of every human being and the right for him or her to be given equal opportunity to enjoy the life, liberty and happiness for which all men are created. We should argue ideas, not personalities.
And from a Christian perspective, we should keep in mind that we shall be held accountable for all we say and do. And that if we let anger loose our tongues it better be to condemn beliefs and actions which would harm others. Or in defense of those who can not speak for themselves.
Being conservative means believing in the superiority of the individual over that of the State. It means truly practicing the adage that “all men are created equal.” It means not being afraid to speak the truth. Even when that truth is unpopular. And it means never, ever submitting to the groupthink.
Free Republic is Free in more ways than just the name. So please remember this, liberty is messy.
