CAPE COAST, Ghana – For a new president, there inevitably comes that moment: the first time he hears a foreign crowd hoarsely chanting his name, or sees thousands of well-wishers surging forward, or realizes youngsters are running pell-mell beside his motorcade, desperate for a glimpse of his face.

For Barack Obama, the moment came here — in the teeming streets near a West African castle where traders once shipped human chattel to a life of toil in the New World.

After a week of difficult summitry in Russia and Italy, trying to get balky allies to follow his lead, the outpouring Obama was treated to in Ghana can only be called rapturous — from Africans overjoyed at the visit of America's first black president to a country south of the Sahara.

And after feeling this kind of love, it must be cruelly hard to go home.

I just bet Uhbama COULD NOT WAIT to RAIL AGAINST the black tribesmen who razed villages and kidnapped adult males and women, leaving the children to fend for themselves, as they transported the black kidnapped to the prisons and gables where they were tied until the buyers came to bid.

Just like we go AFTER THE DRUG DEALERS, I bet Uhbama WENT HARD after the descendents of the SLAVE DEALERS who literally STOLE MEN AND WOMEN from their homes and put them up for sale to the europeans and americans. My oh my.....just TERRIBLE!

This is a totally fictitious report.

The crowds were sparse. The excuse being that most of the roads were closed.

A reporter said that there were much larger crowds for GW Bush when he visited.

From ModernGhana.com: "For Ghana, Obama's visit will be a celebration of another milestone in African history as it hosts the first-ever African-American President on this presidential visit to the continent of his birth." Continent of his birth?????

Of course he savored this moment.

This photo-op is what this whole trip was all about.

discuss Black African Slavery and the Muslims involvement. Perhaps it was Obama’s relatives (muslim) that could be mentioned, too.

From an AP story yesterday:

"Only small crowds greet Obama during Ghana visit... Despite the huge excitement and anticipation surrounding Obama's first trip to sub-Saharan Africa as president, only relatively small crowds came out to meet him in Ghana's capital. The absence of any big public event outdoors, heavy security that blocked roads, and uncertainty over which routes Obama might take combined to keep large crowds away."

Give away free hot dogs and cokes in Ghana and they would chant for Charles Manson.
