VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict called on Tuesday for a "world political authority" to manage the global economy and for more government regulation of national economies to pull the world out of the current crisis and avoid a repeat.
The pope made his call for a re-think of the way the world economy is run in a new encyclical which touched on a number of social issues but whose main connecting thread was how the current crisis has affected both rich and poor nations.
Parts of the encyclical, titled "Charity in Truth," seemed bound to upset free marketeers because of its underlying rejection of unbridled capitalism and unregulated market forces, which he said had led to "thoroughly destructive" abuse of the system.
The pope said every economic decision had a moral consequence and called for "forms of redistribution" of wealth overseen by governments to help those most affected by crises.
Benedict said "there is an urgent need of a true world political authority" whose task would be "to manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result."

He probably doesn’t quite qualify for that label.
However, some of his perspectives and positions on his blanket adoration of the whole edifice and everything in it are
more
than a little crazy! LOL.
One example would be nice. It would probably be rife with double-speak, super rationalized up one side and down the other . . . full of diplo-speak and train loads of intellectual smoke screens . . . still, it would be interesting.
Jesus is the ONLY one who can give us justice and peace.

INDEED.
Though I’m all for working toward such any workable Biblical, healthy, honorable way.
The encyclical seems to pretend a LOT of things.
Such an example would be quite in keeping with such extensive pages of pretense.
I see no evidence that Pope Benedict called for a One World Government
= = =
Ahhhhhhhhhhh yes,
The rubber dictionary slides right past the obvious meanings of the words!
Pretty slick!
No Thanks!
Okay, then please give the world an example of how such a thing might be accomplished, with this superauthority having enforcement powers for everything from "world peace" to economic control.
If you can't come up with an example, and the freaking Pope can't either, then he should shut the Hell up about suggesting this is the way to go when he's as freaking blind as you are.
*** I may not be a genuis but shouldn'tt it be written so that most people can figure out what in the heck hes talking about? ***
Similar to laws written by congress...No one understands them except lawyers...
Especially if ordinary Catholics are suppose to understand what the heck he's talking about,
And if all Christians were suppose to understand it he missed the mark...Geeze, God did the law on 2 stone tablets...
Oh Dear, CM!
What a wimpish post.
Next time, Don’t hold back!
Why not tell us how you REALLY feel! LOL.
Seriously, the lack of an example . . . even a postulated hypothetical example is rather telling.
Guess I’m going to have to make reading that latest encyclical a higher priority. LOL.
What a dreary task.
You miss the point that God wants us to act like we can achieve that while we are here.
The fact that it can’t be acheived doesn’t matter. For one to say that the Pope shouldn’t be fighting for world peace because it will never happen is like saying we should be whatever person we want to be because perfection is not possible.
Especially if ordinary Catholics are suppose to understand what the heck he’s talking about,

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh . . . but that’s part of the
schtick
. . . part of the . . . hollow, pseudo-authority . . .
keep the serfs and sheeple confused enough . . .
that they always feel LOWER THAN.
keep the serfs and sheeple ignorant enough . . .
that they always feel constrained to merely submit to their “BETTERS.”
keep the serfs and sheeple cowed enough that they are more or less willing if not contented to let
RELIGIOUS PROFESSIONALS do the RELIGIOUS thing for them.
What a stinking pile.
1998 I think.

No. That is an aticle about an entirely secularized understanding of subsidiarity. The Church has a much different understanding of EVERYTHING than the secular world’s.

“is a VERY INADEQUATE sham of a fig-leaf.”
No, that’s Protestantism.

Christian hope is not pretending. Protestants, whose sectarian nonsense is filled with presmption rather than hope, however, might see it that way.
“Such an example would be quite in keeping with such extensive pages of pretense.”
The pretense is your assumption that you actually know better based on your own hatred of the Catholic Church.
I understand the doctrines of freedom as derived from Scripture. What is the Scriptural evidence for subsidiarity?

“Vlad, so you insist that the only way to understand the Pope is to see the stuff in post #143 (straight from the Vatican website) through a filter of subsidiary.

No. No one is able to give an accurate example of a principle workng within something that doesn’t yet exist. I make no conjectures either.
“If you can’t come up with an example, and the freaking Pope can’t either, then he should shut the Hell up about suggesting this is the way to go when he’s as freaking blind as you are.”
Wow, look at how spastic you’re getting. Poor baby Protestant can’t handle adult conversation? Listen, I don’t mind the fact that you’re losing control like a child, but I don’t see how this helps your case. Are you crying? Do you need a diaper change? And this is exactly the problem. We’re adults...but we’re arguing with people who act like children, anti-Catholic children.
What is the Scriptural evidence for subsidiarity?
When I read the article, I am tempted by the meanings in the article to shift into a worldly mode of thinking, independent of faith in Christ. That is sin. I’m simply searching for the fruit in the article, born from faith in Christ, as opposed to a counterfeit system of order, independent of faith through Christ.
BTW, if it does exist, I would think a fellow believer in Christ who sought to perform any good work through faith in Christ, would go to great lengths to avoid promoting any worldly thinking independent of faith in Christ, hence would trash the entire article and its mode of thinking.
