I really don’t care as long as it’s somebody significantly to the right of Obama and ELECTABLE. My personal political preferences — practically decimating the federal government and absolutely, completely unfettered RKBA head the list — are not positions that will be espoused by any electable candidate, so I know I’ll have to compromise a lot. Romney, Gingrich, Huckabee, whatever — just as long as they can get Obama out and move the country at least incrementally back towards what the framers of the Constitution had in mind.

I agree. I was really pumped up by McCain's choice of Palin. But I think it is time to move on from her. Fair or not, the woman was Dan Quayled to death. I'd like to hope the media Pravda will leave hear alone now, but I do not think they will.

Cant say I blame her. This may be a good thing if she plans on running in 2012. Less distraction and smaller target.

It's rare to agree and disagree with the same point.

Cant say I blame her.

Damn straight. I may have disagreed at times with her populist brand of conservatism, but the abuse this woman and her family has taken by the thousands of 800 pound gorillas in the State Run liberal media is too much for a normal person to take. It takes a special person to give up everything for a cause and we celebrate those folks tomorrow.

This may be a good thing if she plans on running in 2012. Less distraction and smaller target.

It's over. Nobody would vote for a quitter. If she quit this job, what's to prevent the sheeple from thinking that if they vote for her as POTUS she won't quit that one? She now has a track record as a quitter.

I had heard from a local newscaster in Dallas that the best way to get publicity is to do it in a slow news cycle, typically holidays are slow news cycles.
I think she gets all the publicity through the weekend and into next week.
I think her resignation, taken at her word and face value, was showing that she has the best interest of Alaskans in mind as defending herslf was taking too much of her time away from her office.
Whatever her reasons and plans, I think we were blessed to have her as an example that what is right and good in this country is still alive and not everyone has cratered to pop culture values.

FWIW, I didn’t really love the populist “You betcha, we’ll get those greedy Wall St., oil and tobacco companies” schtick.

I loved the God, Guns and Guts part though.

I’m saddened to hear this, as I really liked Sarah. To me, it sounds like she is dropping out of politics. It became to much for her and her family to handle. If she was going to run for President, it would seem to me that she would want to get more experience under her belt as Governor. That would weaken the Rats’ arguments that she is inexperienced and not ready. If she was going to run for Senate, it would seem to me that she would keep her job once again to gain political experience. If she was to run now the Rats would label her as not only inexperienced but as someone who quit and didn’t hold to her oath of office.

I believe if you run for political office, you commit to those who voted for you and the people that you are serving that you will serve your term. However, the Rats launched a full out war on her, and I don’t think she realized the barage of attacks she would have to counter. It wasn’t just her, either; it was her family as well (including a baby boy with down syndrome). She didn’t deserve that, but sadly she probably should have anticipated it when she accepted the VP nomination, what with her being a female Reagan conservative. The Rats and their allies in the media are terrified of them most and will go to great lengths to destroy them. I can sympathize with her, and I believe as a mother she wants to do what was best for her family.

I think she felt she was serving Alaska better stepping down because she was spending more time fighting attacks against her than working for Alaska.

Just think how the media would be all over it if perhaps her birth certificate was in question!!! She’s really from Canada! The media gives the Kenyan a pass and Sarah is persecuted non-stop!

The saddest thing to me is that the libs can beat someone down like this. I wish she could have stayed and fought because now it gives them the satisfaction that their attacks worked. I’m sure they are already looking for the next target.

Another FReeper said that about Mark Sanford when Jackson died. He got his Gary Condit moment.

“I don’t see how resigning before the end of her first term would be good for 2012.”

I agree. It makes her look like a light weight. Resigning because of the distraction of the suits and garbage and stuff makes sense. But, she needs more experience in some high office seems like.

“Looks like she is aiming for the Senate next”

That would be perfect. Then she would be right in DC to go after Obama every day on his turf. Hee, hee.

Go Shara!

No way, she is doing what is best for her right now and she can speak without a teleprompter.

I noticed that most Republicans will resign from their current position when they announce running for president. Wonder why the Democrats don't follow suit?? They can't do their primary job right, adding the second really screws them up.
If Palin is running for president in 2012, she's got my vote, my devotion, and whatever she needs to win.

better that she’s out of the running now so that other promising candidates will get a chance to build themselves up for 2012.
