Even most of the comments on the Washington Post message boards are negative about this bill.
That should tell something to the Dems.
It is a bad bill.
I am all for doing a better job on the environment and reducing our emissions, but that takes time for it NOT to kill the economy, and shoving mandates down throats will make it worse, not better.

How much time does he get to do this under the rules? House customs allow the speaker to complete his comments. Point of clarification already addressed on the floor.

As much as he wants! JEEZ. That's what I get for taking my daughter out for ice cream and missing part of the debate.
I didn't know that. I thought he was time-limited. I am completely wrong, and apologize for my prior remarks.

Apparently, the leaders get to talk as long as they want. Waxman challenged him to the chair, and the chair said it’s the custom of the House to let the leaders talk as long as they want! Hell, might as well use the time, especially since we’ll get a second crack at killing this Communist garbage in the Senate.

OK. I give up.
What is an indirect carbon factor?
To: FreepShop1
waxman tried to stop him and the speaker said he can have as much time as he needs.

this bill is about the seizure of money and control. it is not about the environment and it is not about what’s good or not for the economy. this is neither the time or place to debate the merits, because anybody who gives a toot already knows it has none. so now it’s a matter of shoving this down their throats and making ‘em eat it. and making it very difficult for his colleagues to vote for it. this is not about winning the hearts and minds of the american people. it is about trench warfare in the house chamber.
