I hope this is the start of a much needed house cleaning within the GOP.

Does anybody know anything about this guy besides what a screw-up he is?

I’ll bet he’s a RINO.

I don’t think it will be interpreted as support, as much as the GOP just thumbing their noses at us because those in power can do what they want.

It happens more, because people can conduct an affair right from there own homes!

Computers, cell phones have made affairs easy for people who decide they will, because they think it’s easy and they can get away with it...

If you don’t think we live in a sex crazed society, I suggest pulling off those blinders you have been wearing.

I agree, but history seems to show us that not many good people enter politics.

No...he was a pretty solid conservative. The first governor to turn down stimulus money. That’s what makes this all the more sad and disappointing to me.

Obviously, they can’t claim that.

How did any of that make him cheat on his wife and family?

Who said it made him cheat?

I never said I didn’t think we live in a sex-crazed society, I believe we always have. Nothing new, just easier.

In Japan would be be expected to take his own life? I would be satisfied with a self-castration.

I’d venture a guess Sanford’s potential political career moves are now very limited if not completely erased.

Your answer...’Not entrapment, just good old opposition research wedded to the politics of personal destruction’...sounded to me like he was not completely and solely responsible for what happened to him.

I doubt it, many other societies find nothing wrong with powerful men having affairs.

I think the affair is probably small potatoes when compared to his overall flakiness. Just disappearing - he’s the governor of a state and he didn’t think anybody would notice?

He’s actually pretty conservative in his politics and voting record, he event went against Obama on the stimulus bill by refusing to accept money.

Too bad he did not extend his political beliefs into his personal life.

There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of people in this country who’ve never cheated on their spouse and who live moral lives. Getting those people to enter an immoral game like politics is difficult though.

You nailed it. The really good, trustworthy folks don't want to run for office, because they don't want to be associated with these clowns. There's a lot of truth behind stereotypes; used-car salesmen, lawyers, politicians, etc...

to me it doesent matter; the fact is he committed the act(s). It seems to me if the dems were behind this they would have waited a year or 2 during the hot political seasons. My guess is his lover was going to out the affair so he did the standard confession.
