Gas prices creep up
S Florida Business Journal ^ | June 21 2009

Posted on 06/22/2009 2:28:33 AM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

Gas prices rose last week by the smallest weekly increment since the beginning of May, according to AAA Auto Club South.

The national average price of a gallon of gas was up by just three cents compared to the previous week.

However, in Florida it was up by five cents a gallon to $2.71. Just a month ago the average price of a gallon of regular in Florida was $2.40.

The average price was $2.77 in both Fort Lauderdale and Miami. In West Palm Beach, a gallon of regular unleaded is going for $2.80.

The good news is that gasoline futures are going down because the Department of Energy reported a surplus of fuel and demand is weak, noted Gregg Laskoski, managing director of public relations for AAA Auto Club South.

On the flip side, “as we saw last summer, the price at the pump doesn’t always reflect supply and demand fundamentals,” he said.

Laskoski added that while prices may plateau in coming weeks “nobody can accurately predict when the value of the U.S. dollar will increase or decrease; but we do know that when it decreases crude oil and gasoline prices usually go up no matter how favorable the supply and demand figures may seem,” he said.

I love how the press...even the business press...does their best to put a "good news" spin on Hussein's economic mismanagement.

They even do it in FOREIGN affairs.

One local station in Florida even reported 'good news' about North Korea's threat: the missiles, experts said, couldn't reach ALL the way to Hawaii, and the last time the NKs tried to launch one, the rocket failed. BWA HA HA HA HA HA. Yeah, that really makes us feel better, libtards.

A friend and I were just commenting the other day that if Bush were still president, these rising gas prices would be the cause for 24-hour wall-to-wall hysteria in the press. But with Bambi in the WH? Silence.

And when gas hits $3-4 per gallon, as it will, the silence from the media will be deafening.

The democrat party has engineered the prices to go up with their allies in the Islamic middle east nations who cut supply of oil while the democrat communists install cap and trade policies in America hobbling the once free captalist companies from producing oil and using the media to convince the left that Bush did it.
Stupid is as stupid does and Americans elected a communist who hates all of us.

Remember this price creep is exactly what Obambi wants. During his campagn last year, when gas prices were pushing to $4.00/gal, Obambi said that Americans really did not mind the high prices - they just don’t like the fact that they went up so fast!

Yes, they will go up, and I am sure that when they’ve reached a certain level and poeple begin to grumble, the press will suddenly discover them and Bambi will then be “forced” to implement some coercive taxation or rationing plan to deal with the “crisis.”

If the crude price increase were due to a weakening dollar natural gas would also be increasing at a similar rate. Since that is not happening it’s obvious that we’re just seeing another speculation bubble.

Thats not the biggest cause of crude oil price increase but its a major cause. Don't expect the government to stop printing money...and don't expect commodity prices to come down an time soon.

Natural gas prices don't increase when the dollar goes up because the USA doesn't import anywhere near as much NG as it does crude oil. Most of our natural gas (84%) comes from right here in the USA.

I think he was talking about gasoline prices.

There is a gas station here that can't possibly move more than a truckload of gas a month. There's never anyone there and the station down the street always has lower prices. When oil goes up their price goes up immediately. When prices go down their price falls a few days later.

I don't really blame them. They need the money too. I just don't understand why anyone goes there for gas.

Whoops! My bad. Sorry. Bad morning. He did say "natural gas" which I believe is not connected to oil at all.
