Atheism, for Good Reason, Fears Questions
--snip--
That theists and open-minded agnostics and atheists on the pro-Darwinist side of this debate are finally engaging the same fundamentalist atheist dogma that intelligent design proponents have engaged for several decades is a good sign. Fundamentalist atheists are of course fighting back ferociously, because they understand, as perhaps the accomodationists dont, the profound implications of an understanding of the natural world that is not causally closed.
Teleology is obvious in nature. Atheists and materialists intrinsically deny the reality of teleology-- Aristotelian final causation-- in nature, yet nothing in the natural world can be understood without reference to teleology. Science is saturated with reference to purpose and goals of natural things. Atheists deny teleology, because acceptance of teleology in nature raises devastating questions about their atheist faith.
Fundamentalist atheists-- secular priests-- fight ferociously to extinguish challenges to their faith, because they understand that to raise the question of teleology in nature is to answer it. Atheism, for good reason, fears questions.

Huh?
Oh, you mean that really was a direct quote from Buck W!?!?
I’ll send my old specs since if the quotation marks don’t show up well. Course I may need to refill the pixel cartridge in my monitor or something.
Yeah, from that other thread about radio-something or other.
All responses are inneffective on brainless Temple of Darwin fanatics. Are one of those brains yours, or are you waiting to fill yours up with more darwiniac garbage before you make the ulimate sacrifice to the Bearded Buddha of Naturalism?
LOL...I thought you were paraphrasing. I guess you’re not as talented as I thought d:op
How anyone can make vulgar and off-color insults and in the breath propound what Christians they are is beyond my understanding. The more so since they claim to know the Bible and yet fail to appreciate Jesus'’ words about what comes out of a person's mouth “defiles” them.
But you're right, I'm just not talented that way.
Who said we don't care about you? You are, after all, one of God's highly evolved creatures. Even if you choose to use your highly evolved brain to be an ankle biter, God still loves you.
Good morning.
I have a question.
Is the universe the same age as Earth?
LOLROTF!!!!
This from someone who begins with:
Sometimes, however, you are like those little yapping puppies that run around trying to bite peoples ankles. Sometimes people get tired of the ankle bitters and give them a little kick.
One little kick back after hours of ankle biting makes you yell, "attack." That little kick is then turned into "always on the attack."
Pitiful.
More despicable slander from the Discovery Institute.
Sorry. I do not engage with ad hominem attackers like you.
The existence of cancer pretty much destroys any argument for teleology in nature.
promise?
How so? I can think of at least 2 reasons why this isn't necessarily true.
Cancer is a case of the body destroying itself, which is anti-teleological
I know what it is, but why is that anti-teological?
For instance, I know I wouldn’t want to live here forever.
And just because something was intelligently designed, why does that mean something or someone couldn’t come along and screw it up?
For instance computer viruses.
What part is slander? Slander of whom?
Babies and young children unfortunately die from cancer, which particularly highlights the anti-teleological character of nature.
And just because something was intelligently designed, why does that mean something or someone couldnt come along and screw it up? For instance computer viruses.
Ever hear of Occam's Razor?
A perfect example proving that Teleology in nature can not exist.
Yes kids die of cancer, but in the scheme of eternity I don’t know how that would make a giant difference.
Yes I’ve heard of Occam’s razor. Not sure how it relates either.
