ABC REFUSES PAID ADS OFFERING ALTERNATIVE VIEWPOINT FOR WHITE HOUSE HEALTH CARE PROGRAM
Drudge Report ^ | June 17, 2009 | Drudge

ABC is refusing paid ads for its health care program at the White House. Thus they're refusing even a paid-for alternative viewpoint.

Conservatives for Patients Rights requested the rates to buy a 60 second network spot immediately preceding the broadcast of the Town Hall meeting.

Here is statement from Rick Scott, chairman of Conservatives for Patients Rights.

"It is unfortunate - and unusual - that ABC is refusing to accept paid advertising that would present an alternative viewpoint for the White House health care event. Health care is an issue that touches every American and all potential pieces of legislation have carried a pricetag in excess of $1 trillion of taxpayers' money. The American people deserve a healthy, robust debate on this issue and ABC's decision - as of now - to exclude even paid advertisements that present an alternative view does a disservice to the public. Our organization is more than willing to purchase ad time on ABC to present an alternative viewpoint and our hope is that ABC will reconsider having such viewpoints be part of this crucial debate for the American people. We were surprised to hear that paid advertisements would not be accepted when we inquired and we would certainly be open to purchasing time if ABC would reconsider."

"Boycott ABC and boycott their scumbag advertisers. Ruin them they deserve nothing less."

If only that would work.

The fact of the matter is advertisers really only care about the 18-54 year old demographic, and are highly keen on the 18-29 year old demographic. Obama's popularity with the first demographic is very good, and his popularity with the second demographic is astronomical.

The only demographic that McCain won in the last election was white people, over the age of 60. That's the one demographic that advertisers care absolutely nothing about.

In short, the broadcast networks just don't care what conservatives think, because their advertisers are targeting the other guys. There's really no way to fight against or to turn the tide on this blatant Obama favoritism by every facet of the entertainment/news industry.

They should lose their broadcasting license immediately for that.

exactly which straw is going to “break the back” and cause america to wake up?

I was talking about this to a fellow conservative today. We came to the conclusion that there'd have to be some very public blood spilling that could be directly tied to the White House. Otherwise, the States will have to dominate the news with their refusal to follow the rules of the Federal Government. Anything else only works to enrage the right thinking folks of the country.

Boycott ABC all day, every day.
____________
I haven’t had ABC on in probably 15 years or more. NOT ONCE.

This is proof that conservatives must find a way around the mainstream media.

They reach 20 million or so per day with the evening news (ABC = about 7 million).

The challenge is conservative news distribution to 20 million per evening.

That’s very easy to do since I don’t watch it to begin with. Throw NBC and CBS into that list as well.

There will have to be very public blood spilled before the public wakes up. Until then we’ll continue to take it in the can.

That's why the MSM is so powerful...

Folks point to FOX... Yet, if you add the others (CNBC, CNN, Headline News, MSNBC), they top FOX. Also, most folks get their news in 30 second soundbites, from the Networks... who... incidentally, are more emboldened than ever... thanks to... guess what? FOX? They point to FOX and say they're a counterbalance.

A counterbalance to a balanced reporting station. Which collectively dwarfs FOX many times over... Add in the newsprint media, BBC (and other foreign outlets), and NPR, and it's no wonder our message gets screened out nearly all of the time.

Call your Cable provider ans have them Remove ABC from your signal selection list of stations.
Probably will Not be able to....but thousands of calls “asking” will send a message.
Tea party demonstration outside ABC Corp. will also help.

The challenge is conservative news distribution to 20 million per evening.

The solution is a network that is right of center and completely unashamed of the moniker. Rush Limbaugh would be the perfect financier (for those of you in Rio Linda - he wouldn't use his own money). It needs to happen before it's too late.

"Call your Cable provider ans have them Remove ABC from your signal selection list of stations."

In the irony of ironies, there was legislation that was killed by the Bush administration and Republicans in both houses of Congress, that would have allowed you to do just that.

Some social conservatives supported it, but it was killed by the the pro-deregulation types. I'm as anti-regulation as the next guy, but some of the things Republican-controlled FCC have done, have actually hurt conservatives in a big way over time.
