In the irony of ironies, there was legislation that was killed by the Bush administration and Republicans in both houses of Congress, that would have allowed you to do just that.
Some social conservatives supported it, but it was killed by the the pro-deregulation types. I'm as anti-regulation as the next guy, but some of the things Republican-controlled FCC have done, have actually hurt conservatives in a big way over time.
It isn’t “over-regulation” to permit people to NOT BE FORCED TO PAY for bundled television programming on cable bills.
If you don’t want to fund Viacom or Time-Life-Warner or Disney or NBC, you shouldn’t HAVE to surrender part of your bill to them every month.
Right now, the only option you have is to not have any pay television.
