The Boston Newspaper Guild will meet with managers at The Boston Globe and the National Labor Relations Board this week as it tries to block a 23 percent pay cut imposed by the newspapers parent company.
The cut imposed by the New York Times [NYT] Co. came after the Guild narrowly rejected a new contract with $10 million in annual wage and benefit concessions. The Times Co. says it needed $20 million in annual savings from Globe unions to keep the paper open.
After the cut was announced, the Guild filed an unfair labor complaint with the labor board, which will meet with the union Tuesday.

(LOL)
Isn’t that just like the union. They would rather see the paper go down rather than take a pay cut.
Get the popcorn ready, with a tub of butter!
"It's the print stupid!"
It's dead. No one is gong to buy it. They are bleeding $1 Million per week just keeping the doors open.
They ought to give the union everything they want and then lock the doors the very next day. Dissolve the company entirely.
Gonna happen anyway (unless Obama makes us taxpayers buy it).
It’s really hard to know who to root for in this one.
I’m hoping that they both lose.
77% of present salary >> 100% of Ø...
Unions don't care about the workers at one company. Just as a company will shut down one factory to aid the company in the whole, the union will gladly drive one company into bankrupcy and the workers there out of work to serve as a warning to other companies to comply or face bankruptcy. Look at Eastern Airlines - the union gladly drove them out of business as a warning to the other airlines.
Sooner or laater, victimized union members are going to wake up and initiate “contracts” on “leaders” who pull such crap...

This is like watching two scorpions in a death match fight. Who cares who wins, just enjoy the show.
I wonder why.

Who’s afraid of a digital world? The World Copyright Summit
The world’s rightsholders gathered in Washington this week to discuss copyright in all its variegated glory, but the event was essentially about one topic: how do we survive in a digital world?
So if the NLRB sides with the union, won’t it take down the parent company, the NYT?
