Much Ado About Nothing
And as a commenter said:
Eric Damon| 6.11.09 @ 7:01AM
"It amazes me how the press is covering the upcoming Iranian election as if they are free, fair, and will have any real consequences. The Guardian's Council picks the candidates and the Supreme Leader makes the real decisions, so the president is basically irrelevant. Whomever wins the election is simply the public face of the nation's rulers and is going to do their bidding regardless of their public rhetoric. Ahmadenijad has done nothing that the rulers disagree with and neither will the winner of this election, and to pretend otherwise is a fool's errand. No matter the winner we can expect the same actions with maybe more soothing words, but the policies of the Iranian regime are not going to change."

Well...do people think the nutjob will just tuck his tail and hide?????? Not going to happen,IMO.
I’m more afraid of him losing... than winning. He is evil to the bone. He will not take this laying down, IMO.
To: mbs6
Exactly. I remember all of the high hopes after Khatami won, back in 1997. What changed? Nothing.

1. It’s not true
2. It doesn’t matter — the Mullah’s & Ayatollahs run Iran anyway
3. This is to actually prop up OUR mealy-mouthed, weak-kneed “leader”
4. Iran will continue it’s nuclear weapons development unabated regardless

Fact is, this election is fake... Its mostly meant as a show and the American state-run media are gobbling it up. The Supreme Leader of Iran, Ali Khamenei, pre-approves who is even allowed to run for president...Same thing here... replace "the mullahs" with Soros-et-al.

This maybe why Imawhackjob lost if he did.
Mousavi's stunning rise also has been helped by his popular and charismatic wife, former university dean Zahra Rahnavard, and their joint calls for more rights and political clout for women. Iranian women work in nearly all levels of society including as parliament members. But they face legal restrictions on issues such as inheritance and court testimony, where their say is considered only half as credible as a man's.
For the first time in Iran, the forces of the Web were fully harnessed in an election showdown. That catapulted Mousavi, a 67-year-old former prime minister from the 1980s, into a political star.
On Friday, dozens of Iranians using Twitter posted messages including one that said: "Keep my fingers crossed for green wave to win."
Turnout for Iranian election could break records

It’s s scam; the ayatollahs still call the shots and now Iran can pretend that it elected a moderate because of Obama. They will get even more concessions out of him now.

Our local radio guys were suggesting that it’s better if Iran’s current President (can’t spell the name!) wins.
The idea is that the president doesn’t have any power anyway, so at least having a rabidly crazy spokesman keeps the world’s attention, such as it is, focused on Iran.
If a more reserved, moderate, president is elected, the power behind the throne will continue as always, but the world would be placated and would go back to completely ignoring the problem, rather than only partially ignoring the problem, which is today’s state.

And now the MSM will praise the great GloBama and his Cario speech as introducing change to the Middle East. Is there any doubt? Ugh.

Same with the transition in North Korea, L’il Kim is mostly a figurehead and the generals pretty much run things. Just like in Imperial Japan, the Emperor was the figurehead, while Tojo and Co., ran the show.

Not so... Michelle has knees of an oxen, back of ass and face of a horse. She is built like a German tank.
Ohhh, you mean Barry? IMO, he’s not the leader he’s just a mouthpiece....
