Our local radio guys were suggesting that it’s better if Iran’s current President (can’t spell the name!) wins.
The idea is that the president doesn’t have any power anyway, so at least having a rabidly crazy spokesman keeps the world’s attention, such as it is, focused on Iran.
If a more reserved, moderate, president is elected, the power behind the throne will continue as always, but the world would be placated and would go back to completely ignoring the problem, rather than only partially ignoring the problem, which is today’s state.
Same with the transition in North Korea, L’il Kim is mostly a figurehead and the generals pretty much run things. Just like in Imperial Japan, the Emperor was the figurehead, while Tojo and Co., ran the show.
